UPDATE (11 a.m. Eastern): R. Kelly has pleaded not guilty on all 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse against him. His attorney Steve Greenberg entered the plea for the R&B singer in a Chicago courtroom.EARLIER STORY:R. Kelly, one of the most successful R&B acts of all time, was still in jail Sunday afternoon after he failed to immediately produce the 0,000 in cash required to make bail.A judge in Chicago set Kelly's total bond at million on Saturday, a day after he was indicted on 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse against four victims, three of whom would have been underage at the time of the alleged crimes, according to prosecutors.Kelly's bond was set at 0,000 for each of the alleged victims in the case. To leave police custody, he's required to pay 10 percent of the total, or 0,000.Steve Greenberg, Kelly's attorney, told reporters after Saturday's bail hearing that he was "very happy" with the bond and that it seemed "fair and reasonable given the allegations."But Greenberg said his client "really doesn't have any money at this point" due to "mismanagement," "hangers-on" and "bad deals."He added Kelly would ultimately be able to come up with the required 0,000."He's trying to get it together," Greenberg said. "He doesn't have it sitting in the bank."Illinois does not have bail bondsmen, Greenberg pointed out.Singer owes thousands in unpaid child supportBut Kelly's money problems don't stop with his bail.According to court documents, Kelly owed more than 9,000 in unpaid child support to his ex-wife as of Feb. 6.The court ordered Kelly to make a monthly payment of ,833 on January 8, 2009, but Kelly failed to show up to that hearing, per court documents. To avoid being held in contempt of court, a judge ordered he pay 1,663 by March 6.Greenberg said his client "does not have to pay the child support before getting out.""The state is trying to make him do that, or they were," Greenberg said, "but the judge said no."Singer also faced eviction from his studioKelly also risked eviction at his Chicago studio last month because he owes more than 6,000 in unpaid rent.Court documents show a judge signed an eviction order in January. The documents show Robert Kelly needed to move out on or before January 21, but Kelly was still at the studio minutes before he turned himself in to police on Friday night. The eviction process began in July 2018 when the landlord, Midwest Commercial Funding LLC, said Kelly defaulted on the lease by initially failing to pay more than ,000 in rent. The back rent continued to pile up, and the judge finally signed off on an eviction. In January a judge ordered the second floor of Kelly's studio -- which was being used as a bedroom -- to be closed because it posed a fire hazard. The judge also limited Kelly's use of the building to between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., a decision Greenberg slammed in a statement on his Twitter page, in which he compared Kelly to Ludwig van Beethoven, Sigmund Freud and Winston Churchill, whom he said worked and wrote at night. The area was only zoned commercial, and not residential. 3138

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — It's hard to become a professional athlete. So, when an Ohio man got an offer to play football overseas, he was all in. However, the person recruiting him to play was playing him the whole time.Desmond Stanley has been tackling his dream to play professionally for a long time.“I started playing football when I was about 5,” the Willoughby, Ohio, man said. After graduating from Lake Erie College last year, he put his video highlights on the internet. He was determined to catch a break.“I thought I had a great opportunity with this Japan thing,” Stanley said. In late March, Stanley thought he scored a job after getting text messages from a man who said he was in Japan. "I was looking for a new opportunity," Stanley said. "It seemed like it was perfect."The supposed recruiter used the name of a real Japanese football team, sent Stanley a contract, and told him to pay for some processing. Stanley sent money through Western Union."You'll get the job immediately. They might not even interview you,” said Sue McConnell from the Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Cleveland. She said job scams were among the top 10 most used schemes that hit the Cleveland area in 2018. “Suddenly, it turns sour because they are either going to want money from you for some kind of test or certification." And that's what happened to Stanley. He was told to pay nearly ,000 more to make the job complete. Stanley said no."The agent stepped in and he was like, 'What can you pay? I'll help you,' " he said.Stanley said he did his homework on the job offer, even asking experienced people in the sports industry to look over the contract."Everyone who I spoke with said it seemed ... it seemed legit,” Stanley said. This isn't the first time a scam like this has popped up. According to an 1815

Whether on the field or from the sidelines, it’s clear to see rugby is a very special sport. A sport where every athlete runs, rucks, scrums, and mauls. Oh yeah, they also tackle without any pads. “There’s a lot more adrenaline going, and a lot of times, I won’t even realize that I’ve been stepped on,” says rugby player Kaya Troyer. “Which is a little different than other sports.”Now, this sport played around the world is attracting more athletes in the United States. Players like Abigail Tofoya, who traveled from to California to Colorado for a girls rugby camp.“It’s a sisterhood; it’s a bond,” she says. “You develop so many friendships through this.”In 2014, the Sports and Fitness Industry Association reported rugby as the fastest growing team sport in the U.S., with participation growing by 350 percent in a five-year period.“Rugby, it gives me that very competitive edge,” says rugby player Lena Luciano. To gain that competitive edge, players are learning from the best rugby minds the country has to offer. Getting top-level tips from coaches like Jaime Burke, who represented her country while playing for the U.S. Women’s National Team in three Women’s Rugby World Cups.“It’s much different than when I first started out,” she says. “At this point, we have pretty much year-round programming from U8 all the way through U15.”Attracting a bigger audience, however, doesn’t come without concern.“Her daughter wanted my daughter to play and I was like, ‘No way! You’re crazy!’” recalls rugby parent Robin Hartman.Injuries do happen in all sports, including rugby.“The biggest risks we’re seeing is when we look at elite players, collegiate players, and youth players is a risk to the head and neck and then ligament injuries are also pretty common as well,” explains Scott Laker, MD, medical director of the UCHealth Concussion Clinic.Dr. Laker broke down the health risks ranked by sport.“Youth hockey probably has the highest rate of concussions, then probably youth rugby, and then below that is youth soccer,” he says. “The lowest rate is swimming and diving.” Some athletes, however, enjoy contact and say that the excitement of rugby continues to grow among girls across the country one game at a time. 2236

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. -- A man walked from an Indianapolis suburb to Wisconsin -- a 351-mile journey -- to have sex with a person he believed was the 14-year-old girl he had been talking to on Facebook, prosecutors said.Instead, 32-year-old Tommy Lee Jenkins had been talking to a Winnebago County Sheriff's deputy working with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a statement from the US Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Wisconsin said.He is charged with using a computer to attempt to persuade, induce or entice a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity, the office said, and faces 10 years to life in prison if convicted.CNN has reached out to Jenkins' attorney, a federal defender, and has not received a response."Our nation faces an epidemic of child sexual abuse, with the Internet making it too easy for predators to communicate with children across the country," United States Attorney Matthew D. Krueger said in a statement. "The Justice Department is committed to working with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to prosecute child sexual abuse aggressively."The law enforcement officer was posing as a girl named "Kylee" who lived in Neenah, Wisconsin, with her mother, the attorney's office said.Jenkins accepted a friend request from Kylee's profile and soon began engaging in sexual conversations with her, asking her if she's had sex and requesting explicit pictures, a criminal complaint alleges. In early October, Jenkins began asking the girl if she wanted him to come to Wisconsin. When she said yes, he later told her he had begun walking from Whitestown, Indiana, to where she was."I will tell you when i get to neenah 108 hours by walking," he said, according to the complaint.Throughout his journey, Jenkins sent pictures of areas he passed, including photos of exit signs and selfies, the complaint said.On October 10, he said he had made it to the state and that someone had bought him a bus ticket to get to the girl's town.Authorities arrested Jenkins when he arrived, the attorney's office said.Jenkins is scheduled to appear in federal court on October 23. 2141
