(KGTV) -- A fire that tore through a Chula Vista playground overnight is being investigated as suspicious, the Chula Vista Fire Department says.The fire was reported just after 4:50 a.m. at the Veterans Park Community Center. Video of the scene shows roaring flames erupting from the playground before a loud explosion is audible. At this time, the department says the fire is under investigation as suspicious. Several other residential and business fires also took place overnight Saturday and into the early morning. The first fire damaged an El Cajon home on the 1700 block of Hacienda Place just before 3:30 a.m. One person was injured due to smoke inhalation. Heartland Fire and Rescue says one man was found in the backyard of the home with minor injuries. Another person suffered smoke inhalation.The blaze is under investigation by the El Cajon Police Department and the Sheriff Department’s Bomb and Arson unit.The second fire burned through the La Tiendita Mexican Market on the 3800 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard around 9 a.m. Saturday. (KGTV) — GoFundMe has found itself hosting another border wall related campaign, this time to counter a growing fundraiser to fund President Trump's border wall.The "Ladders to Get Over Trump's Wall" campaign was created to counter a multi-million dollar GoFundMe in support of the border wall. And while it says it's for ladders to get over the wall, it's not in the literal sense.Instead, the campaign says it intends to donate the money raised to legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees though the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a Texas-based nonprofit."We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically-underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy. (KGTV) - A Valley Center woman and her son are dead in an apparent drunk-driving crash in Austin, Texas that injured the woman’s husband and daughter.KVUE reported Guy Brasted, 41, was driving drunk and crossed the median of U.S. 183 on Saturday afternoon. Brasted’s Jeep struck a Fiat sedan, police said.Nancy Latulippe and her 14-year-old son Jackson died on impact. Latulippe’s husband Scott is in critical condition, relatives said. The couple’s daughter Keira was not seriously injured, according to relatives.The family issued a statement which said they "thank the community for their prayers and support. The family is surrounding Kiera with support. We continue to pray for Scotty's recovery. Nancy and Jackson are in our thoughts and prayers as we move forward. Scotty continues to fight.
