SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the public to help find the driver who left a man with several severe injuries along an Ocean Beach street last month.Police say at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 6, a 64-year-old man was walking his bike northbound in the bicycle lane of the 4000 block of Nimitz Blvd. The suspect, driving a newer model Nissan Versa Note hatchback (shown below), struck the victim. The driver sped off, leaving the man severely injured.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital suffering from several fractures to his pelvis, ribs, fibula, and foot. He also suffered lacerations and injuries to his bladder and liver. The man is expected to survive but remains hospitalized, police say.Police say the Nissan should have damage to its passenger side front headlight, fender, and side view mirror. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County started the rainfall season in October bone dry, but now the region is getting ready for another storm in time for Thanksgiving.San Diego's weekend will be great, cooling down on Monday before the storm arrives. Winds will pick up on Tuesday. Then, the surf will increase along the coast before the Thanksgiving storm arrives.The atmospheric river will potentially set up the stage for heavy rain, flash flooding, and thunderstorms during the major winter storm. Rainfall totals could average from 3-5 inches for the coast and valleys and 4-8 inches in the mountains. Snow levels will start out high around 8,000 feet. The proposal, from Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, is part of a plan to stimulate the economy as the coronavirus outbreak continues to lead the nation toward a recession. The checks, which could be upwards of ,000 or more, could come in April and May. The money could help San Diego workers who are seeing their hours reduced or jobs eliminated get by while efforts continue to flatten the curve. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and community leaders broke ground Tuesday on a Mission Bay park makeover in honor of a woman who died serving her community. Maruta Gardner was struck and killed by a DUI driver in 2016 while she was removing graffiti. The park in Bonita Cove is being named in her honor and receive a “much-needed makeover” for the playground, city officials say.
