SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A simple move across the city could bring San Diegans more help when it comes to finding a job.Monday, the San Diego Workforce Partnership relocated from its longtime office in City Heights to a new headquarters in Kearny Mesa. The partnership expects to save 0,000 in rent this year and million over the next fifteen years."That's more staffing, more services for job seekers, and more outreach to employers," said Peter Callstrom, the Workforce Partnership's CEO. "To save money is the big deal because we want to keep costs low and fund programs."San Diego Unified bought the partnership's old office, getting them out of a long term, expensive lease. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A teenager was shot Tuesday in San Diego’s Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood, San Diego Police say.Police were called to the 7600 block of Viewcrest Drive around 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.When they arrived, officers found a male in his late teens suffering from a gunshot wound.The teen was taken to the hospital with wounds that “appear to be non-life threatening,” police say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A simple gesture of kindness can make someone’s day or even save a life. “This one is Detecting Divas.” It all began with a book club. “That one is sisters of sleuth.”That Evie Arnold began hosting for seniors over a decade ago. “It’s all mysteries.”The women are all over 60.“There are so may single women that don’t have anybody, that I decided they should email me every day or text me every day just so I know everybody is ok.”But a couple of months ago, one of those emails didn’t come in.“I was making the change from landline to smartphone, but there was a glitch, I was without a telephone, deathy ill with no one to contact anybody.”Bookclub member Susan Lipp laid in her bed with no food, no water, just fear.“When you’re alone and you live alone with no family, I lay there and I thought after a couple days or so, I’m not going to get out of this. And I hope someone takes care of my kitties.”Evie called for a wellness check, and Susan was rushed to the hospital with a critical gastrointestinal condition.“She literally saved my life.”“It feels good to know that I’m 73 years old and I can still do good, be useful.”But that wasn’t the first time her compassion saved a life.When one neighbor's newspapers began stacking up, she knocked on the door only to hear the dogs barking and called for another welfare check.“I ran into her kids in the front yard and talked about time. I called the police on her, and they said you saved her life!”She urges everyone to pay attention to their neighbors, especially seniors.“Most police departments have volunteers that will take a look, and you might end up saving someone’s life too.”Susan believes everyone should join a book club. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A sudden avalanche Friday buried five guests at a Northern California ski resort, including a San Diego native and his wife.Evan Huck and his wife, Kahlynn, were among the five skiers and boarders rescued after an avalanche buried a portion of Squaw Valley Ski Resort near Lake Tahoe. Huck grew up on Coronado, his parents told 10News, and had recently married Kahlynn.The pair escaped unscathed, though hectic moments caught on video after the incident show the drastic effort to make sure things didn't end worse.10News?live?weather conditionsKahlynn and others were captured afterward frantically digging Huck out of the mountain of snow, whose beard was the only part of him peeking through.  While Huck was reportedly knocked unconscious, he was able to snowboard down the mountain on his own afterward. It took about 5 minutes to dig him out.Two of the five caught in the sudden avalanche were injured, one with a serious lower-body injury, according to Placer County Sheriff's Department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of running over and killing a man she had been arguing with at a Kearny Mesa parking lot. San Diego police said 33-year-old Latisha Ingram and an unidentified 25-year-old man were arguing in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Convoy Street at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when the altercation escalated. Kiana Smith was in the middle of her shift at Rakiraki ramen restaurant when she heard the noise outside. Ingram was belligerent, Smith said, adding she had been turned away by a bartender at O’Brien’s. "She turned her down because she was way too drunk, then she made her way this way, and a server saw her before I did, saying she was way too drunk, she couldn't even walk." Smith told 10News the male victim, who had been waiting on a table with his girlfriend, was trying to stop Ingram from driving. "It looked like she was trying to get in her car, but she was obviously way too drunk to drive, so the guy was trying to stop her from driving,” said Smith. According to police, Ingram then drove away while the man was holding onto her car. Police said Ingram drove out of the parking lot and turned southbound onto Convoy Street when the man let go and was allegedly run over. "He ended up on the hood, and she made the right turn, and he completely flew off," said Smith.The man was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. 10News learned Ingram returned to the area about 30 minutes later and was arrested without incident. Ingram was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and felony DUI. 10News learned she has a prior DUI charge from 2011. Smith said returning to work Friday was tough. 1702
