LAS VEGAS — A video of a "cowboy arrest" in Las Vegas is going viral. The video has been viewed more than 231,000 times (at the time of this writing) on Facebook and has been shared almost 6,000 times. It has also received hundreds of comments.It all started around 1:35 p.m. Dec. 11 near Sam's Town hotel-casino."I see this helicopter flying around, like right above us and so I'm like they must be doing something wrong. And right when I thought about that 18 cop cars came barreling down this road right next to the arena," said Cayden Cox, a cowboy and professional cattle roper.Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spotted a car that was reportedly stolen and tried to stop it. The people in the car — three in total — attempted to escape, but hit a horse trailer near Horseman's Park."I'm like, 'oh shoot we need to go catch the son of a buck.' So I come running down through there and I almost knocked over this older gentleman and I felt bad but I got to them and right when I got to him but they all followed me we're like 60 guys behind us," added Cox.One of the people in the stolen car jumped a fence at the park and began running across the fairgrounds. That's when the cowboys got involved. They yelled at man to stop and threatened to lasso him if he didn't."By the time I kind of had my rope up and [the suspect] had his hands up, right when I was thinking about roping him," said Cox.According to a man who saw what happened, the alleged car thief immediately dropped to his knees and a couple of the cowboys pinned him to the ground until the police officers arrived and took him into custody. This mom is a student at Florence Crittenton High School in Denver, Colorado. And at this school, all the students are moms or expecting moms. Like Emily Castaneda.“I never thought that I would go to an all-girls school, so it was kind of weird at the beginning. But I was like, I can relate to all of them, so I like it now,” said Castaneda.Castaneda is getting ready to graduate in May. She has a 1-year-old son named Eliin. Normally, she’d have to find daycare for him if she wanted to go to high school. That’s if she could afford it. “I’m like literally so close to him. I can come check him anytime. I probably wouldn’t even finish high school to be honest,” said Castaneda.This high school has daycare on-site, so new moms like Emily can continue their education. And if they need to see doctor for anything that moms, their kids, or expecting moms might need, they don’t have to go far. “We do prenatal care, we do their physicals for the children, we offer mental health services, we do dental services, any sick visits. We try to make it as easy as possible,” said Linda Almanza, a medical assistant at the clinic.The clinic, in partnership with Denver Health, helped Rebecca Roldan get through a scary moment when her second daughter had respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV.“She almost passed... I was just scared, and like coming to the clinic, they helped me. Like you don’t have to be afraid, we’re here to help with whatever medical you need,” recalled Roldan.Roldan’s daughter was in the hospital for a while, but now she’s out and healthy.Not only is the school helping her with her daughter's health issues and finishing high school, but they’re helping her look to her future. She wants to be a mental health therapist.“I’m taking phlebotomy and medical office so it gets me like in the doorstep," she said. "I’m getting an internship. I don’t know where yet, but this summer I’ll be doing a medical internship."That’s high-level training for a high school student. But Florence Critterton provides what they call a MEDConnect program, courses and work-based learning experiences for students interested in a career in the healthcare or biomedical sciences field.There are a handful of schools that offer daycare across the country from LA to Maine, but the staff here thinks the on campus clinic makes it one of a kind. “This is the only Florence Critterton with a high school and a clinic attached, and a daycare,” said Almanza.While they think they’re unique, the people who work at Florence Critterton would love to see this type of school all over the country.“This could be a role model to a lot of places in America," said Almanza. "You know, teen moms is not a thing we choose, it’s something that happens sometimes. Instead of bashing it sometimes and making it something negative, let’s make it positive." 3084

In a new court-ordered effort to identify potentially thousands of additional immigrant families that the US government separated at the southern border, more than 1,700 cases of possible separation have been found so far.Cmdr. Jonathan White of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps says 1,712 cases with "some preliminary indication of separation" have been referred to US Customs and Border Protection for the next phase of review out of the initial pool of 4,108 children's case files that corps officers combed through.Some of those cases ultimately might not involve separations, White said Friday in a federal court hearing."What we transmit to CBP is solely those cases that have some preliminary indication of separation," White said. "We err on the side of inclusion."The new effort to track down parents and children who were split up at the border is the latest chapter in the ACLU's lawsuit over family separations.While last year a court order in the case from US District Judge Dana Sabraw in San Diego forced the reunification of many immigrant families the government had separated at the border as result of its "zero tolerance" policy, an explosive government watchdog report in January revealed there could be thousands more separated families that officials hadn't previously acknowledged. Sabraw ruled in March that this group should be included in the class action lawsuit over family separations.And in April, the judge approved the government's plan "designed to substantially identify all class members within six months."In total, officials have said they'll need to review some 47,000 files dating to July 1, 2017.Friday, White told Sabraw that the initial phase of case review was going more quickly than he expected. As of Friday, he said, his team has completed preliminary reviews of more than 13,000 files."We started running at this problem. .. .We are ahead of my operation targets that I had set for my own team at this time," White said.Once the Public Health Service team completes its preliminary review, case files with indication of separation then go to CBP and Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further analysis. Then a refined list will go back to the Department of Health and Human Services. As they confirm additional separations, officials will provide a list of parents and children to ACLU attorneys on a rolling basis.Sabraw described the work officials have done so far as "very encouraging" and urged them to provide any confirmed information they have to ACLU attorneys as soon as possible.It's unclear when the first confirmed list could be ready."Our hope is to have a more concrete report with overall timing the next time we report to you on progress," Scott Stewart, an attorney for the government, said in court Friday.In a court filing Thursday, White said HHS is expediting efforts to hire and train a team of data scientists and "scalable teams of record reviewers" to help with the effort. 2980

Jesse Walaschek says 15 to 20 seconds saved him and his family.The 41-year-old, his wife and three kids -- ages 8, 6 and 4 -- had just left a fitness center at a shopping mall in the South Florida city of Plantation when a possible gas explosion Saturday shattered parts of the building, injuring at least 23 people, including two with serious injuries."We felt the loudest boom that you could possibly feel. I looked in my rear view mirror and it was just a dust cloud," Walaschek told CNN. "Had we walked out of that gym 15 seconds later, I would've been getting my kids in the car when it went off. I probably wouldn't be here, my kids wouldn't be here."A search of the blast zone has been completed, police said. There were no fatalities and all the victims have been located, Plantation Fire Deputy Chief Joel Gordon told reporters during a Saturday afternoon press conference.All the injured were taken to area hospitals, he said. Among the injured was a child, but the injuries were not classified as serious, Gordon said."We're relieved that considering the debris field and considering how we found the patients and where we found them, the injuries are not as severe as we would've thought they would be.
