Investigators are trying to determine whether an explosion early Tuesday at a FedEx facility outside San Antonio is connected to four explosions that have rattled the Austin, Texas, area this month.The most recent blast happened inside a FedEx facility in Schertz, Texas, FBI San Antonio spokeswoman Michelle Lee said. Schertz is a San Antonio suburb that is roughly an hour's drive southwest of Austin.One FedEx team member suffered minor injuries when a "single package exploded" at the ground sorting facility, company spokesman Jim McCluskey said Tuesday in a statement. So far, he says the trade-off is paying off for both people and banks."I've never seen a coin shortage. We have had lows throughout time, but never anything we thought was a problem," he said. "But luckily, we were able to get out ahead of this."Some customers aren't even looking to cash in. Neil Buchanan of Community State Bank in Wisconsin says many customers are simply exchanging the coins for bills and not taking the 5% incentive."We've had a lot of people come in and say, "No, no. I don't want the bonus. I just heard that there was a problem. I have this coin. I want to be part of the solution.,'" he said.Economic experts say the coin shortage is linked to the pandemic."There was a decline in supply of coins by the mints and there was an increase in demand for the coins as we all got back to getting the groceries," said Kishore Kulkarni, Ph.D., a professor of economics at MSU Denver.Kulkarni said countries around the world have suffered from coin shortages before, and while these types of coin buyback programs do help the economy, more transactions in the future will require less exact change."We are in a cashless society already, and we will be more so moving forward," Kulkarni said.Moving forward financially, Amarillo National Bank will continue exchanging coins for cash through Sept. 1. INDIANAPOLIS — The first officers to respond to a reported stabbing in Indianapolis Sunday night walked into a chaotic scene: shards of broken glass strewn about the floor; a wig that had been forcibly ripped off someone’s head; and blood smeared from one end of an apartment’s hallway to another.Just inside one of the units at the St. George Apartments police found 45-year-old Vickie Jackson collapsed on the floor. She had been stabbed multiple times and was in extremely grave condition. She was pronounced dead 35 minutes later at Methodist Hospital.Surveillance video obtained by investigators shed light on the chaos.According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Marion County court Monday, a camera captured Jackson and another woman, later identified as 35-year-old Tashawanna Wilson, fighting in the hallway.In the video, police say, Wilson can be seen breaking a wine bottle against Jackson. Wilson then allegedly used the top portion of the broken bottle to stab Jackson numerous times.Police broadcast a description of Wilson, and an officer located her a short time later on the campus of the Tindley Genesis Academy at 24th Street and Capitol Avenue. Wilson was reportedly covered in blood and carrying a hatchet, which was also covered in blood.According to police, Wilson admitted to striking Jackson with a wine bottle during a fight and to going to a friend’s house to change clothing afterward.Wilson was taken into custody on a preliminary charge of murder and booked into the Marion County Jail without bond. As of Monday afternoon, prosecutors were still reviewing the case against her for a final charging decision.Court records show Wilson has previously been charged three times with battery in Marion County, most recently in February 2013. She pleaded guilty to resisting law enforcement in that case and was sentenced to time served. 1874
