SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Tuesday were searching for a man suspected of carjacking another man on a Bay Terraces street.The victim was sitting in his 2018 Kia Forte around 9:55 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of Manzana Way, near the Hillsborough Recreation Center, when a white van pulled up alongside him, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.A man got out of the van and told him he wanted the car, then the victim -- assuming the man had a weapon -- got out of his car, Buttle said.Another person driving the van sped away, followed by the thief in the victim's Kia, which had California license plate 8BCW102, the officer said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The California Highway Patrol is today investigating a fatal freeway crash in San Diego, authorities said.As of 3:35 a.m., multiple CHP units were still at the scene of the traffic collision in San Diego that shut down the five right lanes of the westbound Mission Valley (8) Freeway east of Mission Gorge Road and Fairmount Ave, according to a CHP dispatcher.At least one person has died, she said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties like condominiums and townhomes increased between September and October while home prices decreased, according to data released by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.Sales of single-family homes increased from 1,605 in September to 1,644 in October, a 2.4 percent jump. Attached property sales rose 8.8 percent from 820 in September to 892 in October.The increases are a minor rebound after SDAR data showed sales of single-family homes and attached properties fell 25 percent from August to September.Monthly home prices dipped slightly for both single-family and attached properties. Single-family prices fell 0.4 percent from 7,000 to 5,000 while condo and townhome prices fell 2.7 percent from 9,000 to 8,000."The temperature of home prices seems to be cooling, which may lead to a period of calm for the rest of the year," SDAR President Steve Fraioli said. "However, the strength of the economy and the strong job market remains great news for buyers and industries related to real estate."Year-over-year increases show significant declines in listings sold and increases in home prices. Single-family home sales fell 16.8 percent from October 2017 to October 2018, from 1,977 to 1,644. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego County Registrar of Voters has received more than 560,000 ballots, it was announced Wednesday, more than three times the amount received at this point before the 2016 election.With less than two weeks remaining before the Nov. 3 election, the ballots are in the process of being put through a sorting machine that captures images of voters' signatures for comparison to ones the registrar has on file.Mail-in ballots were sent to all 1.9 million registered voters in the county on Oct. 5, even to those who had not requested one. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police searched Thursday for a hit-and-run driver who ran a red light at a Mission Valley intersection and slammed into another car, seriously injuring it's 60-year-old driver.The crash was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Friars and Frazee roads, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.A 60-year-old woman was driving a 2007 Lexus sedan southbound on Frazee Road when a man driving a blue Ford pickup truck westbound on Friars Road ran a red light at Frazee and crashed into the driver's side of the Lexus, Heims said.The pickup driver kept driving, then pulled over a short distance away before he got out and ran away, the officer said.
