SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are trying to determine what caused a 92-year-old man to crash into the side of a Chollas View home Thursday morning.The crash happened on the 300 block of St. Rita Court, authorities say.The nephew of the woman who lives in the home told 10News no one was home at the time of the crash, but the dogs inside the home were frightened by the incident.RELATED: Car crashes into City Heights home following pursuitThe man was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Nearly 6,000 San Diego workers have reportedly been laid off amid the coronavirus outbreak, but the actual number could be 60 times higher, according to officials at the San Diego Workforce Partnership. The agency estimates there are at least 350,000 San Diego workers at risk of losing their jobs, the majority of them in service sectors like hotels, restaurants and retail, where there is no option to work from home. However, the state has eliminated the 60-day public layoff notification requirement amid the outbreak, so it is unclear how many people are no longer working. The partnership is now taking a multi-pronged approach to getting people back to work. It is focusing on finding employers who have a need today, such as those in delivery, transportation and logistics. It is also working with Amazon to set up mobile job expos. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Overall crime rates in San Diego are at historically low levels. But it's a mixed bag when you break down new statistics today from SANDAG.The good news is that property crime is down so far in 2017.Car thefts are down by 13-percent while burglary and larceny are each down by 9-percents for violent crime, it really depends on where you live.SANDAG breaks down the numbers into 17 jurisdictions. Violent crime is up this year in 12 of them.Those communities with a rise in crime were Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Oceanside, Encinitas, Lemon Grove, San Marcos, Santee, Vista, Fallbrook, Lakeside, Spring Valley, and Valley Center.Homicides are down 14-percent and rape is down by three. But robberies are up 3-percent and aggravated assault has increased 1-percent. 791

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are searching for two men suspected in a downtown San Diego shooting spree that left five people injured Monday night.According to San Diego police, the gunfire was reported just after 11 p.m. at several locations in the East Village neighborhood, about three blocks east of Petco Park's tailgate parking lot.The shooting happened not long after the San Diego Padres wrapped up their game against the Washington Nationals at Petco Park.Police said four people were in the 500 block of 15th Street, near Island Avenue, when two men dressed in dark clothing approached the group and opened fire.Moments later, and several blocks from the initial shooting scene, a fifth person was shot in the 1800 block of Island Avenue.All five shooting victims suffered what were considered to be non-life threatening injuries, according to police.Police said the suspected shooters were described as black men between 19-25 years old and 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall. The men were last seen fleeing westbound from the area.A witness in the area told 10News that he heard about a dozen gunshots coming from different locations and two vehicles speeding from the scene. Police did not confirm if they were searching for vehicles as part of the investigation.Police are looking into the possibility the shooting was gang-related.Mayor Kevin Faulconer released the a statement Tuesday afternoon on the shooting.
