SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Sharp Healthcare Tuesday announced the temporary closure of multiple locations amid the coronavirus pandemic. Sharp said Tuesday that it was temporarily closing its La Mesa West and Point Loma locations beginning Thursday, March 26. "Essential care for patients at these sites, and indeed all Sharp Rees-Stealy patients, will continue through video and phone visits or for patients who must be seen in person, at other Sharp Rees-Stealy clinics," the spokesperson said. The sites will re-open once the outbreak is over. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Several students fighting over a BB gun at a Logan Heights middle school accidentally shot a fellow classmate Tuesday. The incident began when a boy told a fellow student he brought a BB gun to Memorial Preparatory for Scholars and Athletes. The two boys began fighting when the student told his classmate he didn't want to show him the BB gun. During the fight, police say the BB gun went off, shooting a 12-year-old girl in the temple. The student was treated at the school but didn't need to be taken to the hospital. The girl reportedly had a large welt on her head from the incident. At this time, the school hasn't said whether or not they'll be taking disciplinary action against the students.  759

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego State University has extended its stay-at-home order for on-campus students until Sept. 14 at 9 a.m., university officials announced on Monday.SDSU said they have seen "significantly reduced activity" in the College Area over the Labor Day weekend thanks to the current order. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some 4,500 sailors and marines reunited with their families at Naval Base Coronado Friday. Eight months ago, the Amphibious Assault Ship USS Essex and two support ships, the Anchorage and Rushmore, set sail for the Western Pacific and Middle East.The deployment was of historic significance as the military's newest, multi-use fighter jet, the F-35B flew its first combat missions in support of U.S. troops. The Navy reported the jet supported troops in Iraq, Syria and Afghanastan but the exact nature of that support not being divulged at this point. However, the Essex commander confirmed armaments were used by the aircraft.Friday, the primary focus was hugs and kisses. The "official first kisses" involved two young sailors greeting their wives with long embraces. Fathers also met their babies in person for the first time. One dad told 10News it was impossible to put into words how good it felt to hold his new son. The infant, who seemed at ease in his father's arms, then gave a big smile. Sailor Rhett Orth also held his baby girl for first time. His sentiment shared by many, of how hard it is to be away from home but how amazing it feels to be back.
