Update, Tuesday morning: A social media post indicates Dan was welcomed back to his position.ESCONDIDO (KGTV) - Escondido neighbors outraged after their favorite city worker was fired Friday, rallied to get him his job back.Sunday night a small group gathered at Escondido City Hall to tell 10News why they believe it was wrong Dan Naylor was fired.Naylor is known in the community as their ambassador, fondly called "Dan the Man" for his work in public service. He picked up trash along Grand Avenue for years and was hired by the city to clean up Grape Park in 2017, he would have celebrated his first work anniversary in November.Naylor was also recognized by Mayor Sam Abed for his work.Naylor is not an average city worker. He was hit by a car when he was 7-years-old, while living in Oceanside. "I died for 10 minutes, three times... God told me to do the best that I can and be the best that I can," he said.Since then, he's had trouble speaking and limited mobility on his left side.Friday Dan said he was brought into his boss's office and told he was being fired for wearing his uniform while drinking a beer at Vinz after work a few weeks prior. Patti Thompson, a friend and self appointed advocate for Dan, started asking questions, "I got my questions answered by people within the City, so I checked my facts by people that are credible that work in the City office... TUCSON, Ariz. — A trip to Little Anthony’s Diner is a trip back in time. This family-owned restaurant has been serving up tasty treats, with a side of nostalgia, for the past 43 years.“I grew up loving it. My family grew up loving it. It’s a Tucson staple,” said Heather Stricker, a manager at the restaurant and its attached theater, The Gaslight Theater.However, COVID-19 threatened to put this neighborhood treasure out of business. “Right from the start, it impacted us so huge that it was almost devastating,” said Stricker. “Every day you wake up and you see the news: another restaurant or three restaurants closing in our area. It's scary.”A lot of business was lost after months of restrictions, so Stricker knew she’d have to get creative to save the place special to her and so many others.“I think that if we hadn't pivoted, we would have been in real trouble and very quickly,” said Stricker.So, they took a page from history, hoping it would protect the legacy they’ve built, especially through the winter months ahead. Little Anthony’s revived the carhop in hopes of revving up their business.“You pull up into our parking lot, and we have a server who is masked and gloved come out, take your order and deliver your food right to the car,” said Stricker.It’s a safe way to keep customers coming in without stepping into the restaurant.“It’s really nice that we can actually do this without so much worry about what might happen while we're out,” said customer Jen DeCicco. “We're right beside our own car, but yet we have our own space we can be together and enjoy this concert we’ve been dying to see.”The concerts are just one more way the restaurant is hoping to keep their drive-in full while keeping people safely distanced.When it gets colder and sitting outside is no longer an option, the live music plays through your car.“There's always going to be an option no matter how cold it gets,” said Stricker. “And we've had some cold nights, and we made it through, and everybody had a great time. So, we're excited. We're excited to keep going."The customers are excited for a brief escape from a year of loneliness."Having all these people around us, it feels a little bit like a touch of normalcy,” said Jen DeCicco.“I have never done anything like this before. I think it's really cool,” said Jude DeCicco.For regular diners and car enthusiasts Sue and Robert Ellison, this new experience brings their favorite era back to life.“I would come to places like this with my parents. I remember me and my sister sitting in the back seat and ordering,” said Robert Ellison. “It's a nice flashback to a fun time.”“For me, it's fun to experience something I never lived through before,” said Sue Ellison.Because in this time, where the future is so uncertain, looking back could just be the way to move forward.“We’ve decided we're not going to quit. We're not going to give up,” said Stricker. “No matter how long this takes, we are in it for the long haul. (KGTV) — On the heels of several casino reopenings in San Diego County, Harrah's Resort is phasing in hotel guests after it started its reopening process Friday.The casino and resort says it has instituted new policies surrounding cleaning and sanitation and physical distancing to adhere to county guidelines and fight the spread of COVID-19.Changes at the resort include:"All guests will be required to wear their own face mask and will receive temperature checks prior to entering the building All guests must be 21 and older All teammates will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and will receive temperature checks at the beginning of each shiftProper social distancing must be practiced at all times in all areas of the resort. Two men were stabbed inside a Macy's store at the Mall of America in Minnesota just before closing Sunday night, the Star Tribune reports. The suspect was taken into custody following the incident. Police said it was an "interrupted theft" that led to the stabbings. According to police, the suspect waited until two men left the dressing room and then attempted to steal their belongings. The men interrupted the suspect, who pulled a knife and stabbed the victims. Other shoppers subdued the suspect until police arrived.The victims had non-life threatening injuries. 607

Two students were injured after a gun accidentally discharged at a school in Fulton County, Georgia on Thursday.Police received reports of a loud pop coming from a classroom at Banneker High School just before 3:30 p.m.According to a spokesperson with Fulton County Schools, a bullet hit a female student in the ankle, and also grazed another student. Both students were treated for minor injuries, according to the spokesperson.Officials say officers searched the classroom and found a low-caliber handgun hidden in a box. It's believed the weapon was brought on school property in a book bag by a student, according to the school spokesperson.The spokesperson added that "the investigation into this incident is ongoing and the [Fulton County Schools Police Department] plans to file criminal charges against everyone involved in this incident in accordance with District policy."Three students will face charges in the incident. One student is being charged with one count possession of a weapon and one count of a weapon on campus. Two students are being charged with reckless conduct because of their contact with the weapon.The spokesperson told CBS46 the gun did not belong to the injured students.No bags of any kind are being allowed into the school building on Friday.  1297
