NEW YORK, N.Y. – Peloton has issued a recall for some of its bike pedals due to a laceration hazard.Thursday, that home fitness company said about 54,000 of its PR70P clip-in pedals are being recalled. They’re the first-generation pedals fitted on Peloton bikes sold between July 2013 and May 2016.The company has received at least 120 reports of pedals breaking, including 16 reports of leg injuries, five of which required medical care, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Peloton logo and the word "PELOTON" are molded into the pedal body. An orange Peloton symbol and white lettering spelling "PELOTON" are also printed on the top of the cleat binding. They were fitted on bikes that sold for about ,000.Peloton says anyone with these pedals should stop using them immediately and that it’s notifying all affected consumers directly on how to receive free replacement pedals, along with instructions for self-installation.Peloton says its pedals are warranted for one year and all remaining PR70P clip-in pedals in service are out of warranty. The company recommends consumers replace their pedals annually. 1146

NEW YORK (AP) — Wells Fargo CEO Charles Scharf is apologizing for comments he made about the difficulty of finding qualified Black executives. Scharf said in a memo released this week that “there is a very limited pool of black talent to recruit from” in corporate America. The comments and similar statements made in a Zoom meeting led to an intense backlash in Washington and from advocacy groups. Scharf on Wednesday said in a prepared statement that the comments he made reflect “my own unconscious bias.”“There is no question Wells Fargo has to make meaningful progress to increase diverse representation,” he wrote. 629

NEWFOUNDLAND, Pa. -- Crown-wearing worshippers held onto their AR-15 rifles, drank holy wine and exchanged or renewed wedding vows during a commitment ceremony at a Pennsylvania church Wednesday.State police and protesters stood outside the church as brides dressed in white and grooms dressed in dark suits clung to their AR-15s inside the World Peace and Unification Sanctuary. The church believes the AR-15 represents the “rod of iron” in the book of Revelation and encouraged couples to bring guns to the ceremony. An attendant was charged with the task of checking each weapon at the door to ensure it was unloaded and secured with a zip tie.The ceremony prompted an area school district to move elementary school students down the street to a different school. 772

Nine months into the COVID-19 pandemic and many people are inching by by making minimum payments on credit cards. But with Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation set to expire next month, staying in good standing with your credit card companies may be getting harder. Many credit card companies are willing to set up a payment plan and waive fees or lower interests on your payments for a certain period of time, but there’s always fine print. There are other options without impacting your credit score.Getting by by making minimum payments on her credit cards, Jana Krause is feeling financially strapped."I'm finding myself in a position that I was able to make my credit card payments on time. Now I'm concerned that that’s not going to be a happening thing coming up in the next months," Krause said. With the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation set to expire next month, Krause reached out to her credit card companies hoping she can lower her minimum payments without having to go into a hardship program that would freeze her account and potentially impact her credit score."I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place," Krause said. "I've never experienced something like this in my life. I've never been out of a job."At 74, Krause is considered high risk for COVID-19, and going back to teaching wellness classes is not an option for her.Sara Rathner, a credit card expert at the finance company Nerd Wallet, said Krause is not alone."You can look into other options to free up cash in your budget to fulfill other obligations," Rathner said. "Turn to your utility companies, your landlord, your mortgage company, see what sorts of help they can provide. Maybe by freeing up cash in that way you’ll still be able to meet the minimum payments on your credit card."And if that’s not possible, research personal loans or debt consolidation programs. But beware of scams."You can start with non-profit credit counseling that can help you come up with a debt repayment plan and debt consolidation, or even just get help reworking your budget to see if you can free up money to pay your bills," Rathner said.Krause said she’s already cost-conscious doing groceries."I'm not going to one of my favorite stores and getting my favorite treats, nothing. I mean, all that’s been cut out," Krause said.Hardship payments programs may not be for everyone, but Rathner said weigh your priorities before you knock it."In an emergency, your credit score doesn’t need to be your first priority," Rathner said. "You can get yourself into a more stable situation and then focus on rebuilding your credit from there. Right now if what you need to do is keep a roof over your head, keep the lights on, and keep food on the table, that’s your number one priority."This story was first reported by Michelle Quesada at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida. 2856

Netflix is cutting ties with "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey as the actor faces a growing number of allegations of sexual harassment and assault. The actor has also been suspended from the show.In a carefully worded statement, the streaming network made clear that it would not continue to be involved with the show if Spacey has any part in the drama's future."Netflix will not be involved with any further production of 'House of Cards' that includes Kevin Spacey," a spokesperson for the network said. "We will continue to work with [Media Rights Capital] during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show."MRC, which produces "House of Cards," followed up with its own statement, announcing the actor's suspension from the series."While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey's behavior on the set of 'House of Cards,' he has been suspended, effective immediately," MRC said.Netflix has also decided not to proceed with the release of the film "Gore," which stars and is produced by Spacey, the statement said. The film had been in post-production.The decision comes one day after several current and former members of the "House of Cards" production staff came forward with allegations of sexual harassment in a CNN report. One also accused Spacey of sexual assault.Actor Anthony Rapp first made allegations against Spacey in a story published by Buzzfeed this week.Rapp, who appears on CBS's "Star Trek: Discovery," alleges Spacey made a sexual advance toward him at a party in 1986. Rapp was 14 years old at the time.Spacey issued a statement claiming he did not recall the incident, but he apologized for what he said would have been "deeply inappropriate drunken behavior."Production on "House of Cards" was halted on Tuesday, a little more than two weeks after filming for Season 6 began in the Baltimore area.News that the show would be ending after Season 6 was made public in the days following the first Spacey allegation, but sources told CNN the decision had been known by the production team for months prior.Spacey is currently seeking unspecified treatment, according to a statement from his representative released on Wednesday. His publicist and talent agency, CAA, have since cut ties with him."House of Cards" is a five-time Emmy nominee for outstanding drama.Spacey has also earned five Emmy nominations in the outstanding actor in a drama category. On the series, Spacey played a morally bankrupt politician who climbs the D.C. power ladder. In the final episode of Season 5, Spacey's Frank Underwood resigns from office and his vice president and wife Claire Underwood assumes office. The finale set the stage for a power struggle between the couple. 2809
