(CNS) - Lions Tigers & Bears, a big cat and bear sanctuary in East San Diego County, announced Thursday it has reopened for public and member visits.The 93-acre sanctuary and educational facility -- home to more than 65 animals -- in Alpine is welcoming visitors back for visits, exclusive behind-the-scenes tours and "Feed with a Keeper" experiences."Our sanctuary is different than most zoos and animal facilities -- especially those featured in Netflix's chaotic Tiger King docuseries -- as we are a strict no-contact facility," said Bobbi Brink, Lions Tigers & Bears founder and director. "This allows us to provide a safe and peaceful existence for our rescued animals, just like they'd have in the wild, and our vast encounters and limited numbers of guests allow for appropriate distancing for visitors for health and safety with a more up close and personal view of the animals."The nonprofit sanctuary, led by Brink, has coordinated rescues for more than 600 big cats, bears, wolves and other exotic animals across the U.S. in need of permanent refuge and lifetime homes at reputable sanctuaries, including Lions Tigers & Bears.Lions Tigers & Bears is enforcing guidelines, including limiting tour sizes, requiring face coverings and a six-foot physical distance between visitors, volunteers and staff. 1350

A white Arkansas man faces up to 20 years in prison after being found guilty in the beating of an African-American man during racially charged protests last summer in Charlottesville, Virginia.Jacob Scott Goodwin, 23, was among a group of attackers captured on widely shared cell phone video in the August 12 beating of DeAndre Harris in a parking garage during the Unite the Right rally.Goodwin was found guilty of malicious wounding by a Charlottesville Circuit Court jury Tuesday evening. He remains in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail and will face sentencing on August 23.The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The jury recommended a sentence of 10 years and a ,000 fine, according to prosecutor Nina-Alice Antony.Phone calls to Goodwin's attorney were not immediately returned.Goodwin was the first of four alleged attackers to face a trial in the beating of Harris. Jury selection is set to begin Wednesday in the trial of Alex Michael Ramos, 34, who also faces a malicious wounding charge for his involvement in the attack.Two other men, Daniel Borden, 18, and Tyler Watkins Davis, 49, have trial dates set for the summer.Vonzz Long, a friend of Harris', told CNN the two of them were part of a group of people staging counterprotests that day against neo-Nazis and white supremacists. He said they got into an argument with people from hate groups who threw things and shouted racial slurs at them, and he and Harris got separated during the ensuing chaos.When Long eventually found him, Harris was surrounded by neo-Nazis in the garage and being beaten bloody, he said.Harris had faced an misdemeanor assault charge after a white protester claimed he had struck him in the head with a flashlight moments before the parking garage beating. Actor, writer and media producer Tyler Perry has offered to pay for the funeral for Rayshard Brooks, the man who was killed during an altercation with police in Atlanta on Friday.Attorney L. Chris Stewart, who is representing Brooks' family, said during a press conference on Monday that Perry had offered to pay for funeral arrangements."We want to acknowledge and thank Tyler Perry, who we spoke with, who will be taking care of the funeral for the family," Stewart said. "And it's support like that and it's people who are actually in this community, that love the community, that want healing and families like this to never have to go through something like this. It's a step forward and we want to thank him for such a generous move."Perry has been known to provide funeral services for others in the past. According to ABC News, he paid for the funeral services for two 15-month-old twin sisters who died after they left in a hot car in Georgia in 2016. In 2019, he reportedly paid for the funeral of a single mother of four children from Milwaukee.Earlier this month, boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. paid for the funeral services for George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis police custody. Brooks was killed on Friday when police attempted to take him into custody for DUI. A struggle ensued, and Brooks stole an officer's stun gun and tried to flee the scene. Officer Garrett Rolfe shot Brooks in the back twice, and Brooks later died in surgery at a local hospital. Almost a quarter million YETI travel mugs are being recalled over concerns about possible burns from hot liquids when the lid ejects.The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the magnet slider on the YETI Rambler 20 oz travel mug with “stronghold lid” can eject when sealed, and hot liquid inside the mug can spill out. The mug was sold from October 1 through 9 and affected 15,000 units. The recall applies to mugs with the date code 34204010 and was sold in a variety of colors. The recalled mugs were not sold on Amazon, REI, Academy, ACE, Dick’s Sporting Goods, or other retailers. They were mostly sold on YETI’s website. On YETI’s website, there is information about how to return to affected mugs for a full refund.YETI reports they have received at least a couple reports of the lids ejecting, and they say no one has been injured at this time.NOTE: This article originally stated that 241,000 YETI mugs were recalled.
