Prosecutors have confirmed that there's an "ongoing criminal investigation" that relates to Julian Assange's case, according to an assertion they made in court on Wednesday. The Justice Department wrote to a judge in the Eastern District of Virginia that it needed to keep a document in the case from more than a year ago still secret because of the ongoing activity. The extent of the continuing investigative work around WikiLeaks and Assange is still unknown -- though it confirms CNN and other news outlets' reporting in recent days that WikiLeaks is connected to at least one probe that could result in more criminal charges. 640

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – A United Parcel Service (UPS) worker was planning a mass shooting at the facility he worked at in California, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. The department says it learned of the threat Sunday after receiving a report that 32-year-old Thomas Andrews had sent text messages to his employer, threatening the shooting. Officers began investigating and discovered Andrews was the registered owner of four handguns and rifle. Law enforcement then began an extensive search for him. At about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, the department says officers spotted Andrews and attempted to stop him, but he led them in a vehicle pursuit on a nearby highway. Eventually, he was taken into custody.Detectives obtained a search warrant for Andrews’ home, where officers say they located more than 20,000 rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition, numerous high capacity magazines, five tactical style rifles, one shotgun, three handguns and body armor. “Several tactical backpacks containing ammunition were staged at the front door of the apartment where the suspect resides,” wrote the department 1127

Robert Mueller has been subpoenaed by the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees to testify on July 17 to address the special counsel's probe into the 2016 election. Mueller previously said that his report would act as his testimony, and he would not say anything beyond what is in the report. “The report is my testimony. I would not provide information beyond that which is already public in any appearance before Congress," Mueller said last month. In his report, Mueller found that the Trump campaign had multiple contact with the Russian government during the 2016 election. Although Mueller concluded that the Russians' involvement in the election was illegal, the Trump's campaign ties to the Russians did not amount to a criminal conspiracy. Mueller's team also investigated a number of obstruction of justice allegations involving President Donald Trump. Mueller could not make a judgment on Trump's guilt as he said that Department of Justice guidelines suggest a sitting president cannot be criminally charged. 1038
