MILWAUKEE –  Drivers for the Milwaukee County Transit System admit they see some strange things along their routes. But this week, one driver could not believe his eyes when he saw a chase — between two animals -— unfold right in front of his bus in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood. Bus surveillance camera shows a coyote sprinting down Holton Street – being chased by a small black cat.The coyote was a surprising enough sight for the bus driver – but the cat made the moment “a first” for the transit system. The Milwaukee County Transit System released the video on their Facebook page  and said:  661

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police in National City have arrested two suspects following a deadly 2015 shooting. According to the National City Police Department, Roger Hernandez, 30, and Luis Karam-Solis, 29, were arrested for the murder of Juan Munoz. The shooting happened in October of 2015. According to police, 18-year-old Munoz and his 17-year-old passenger drove to the 1600 block of Prospect Street after being followed by two men in a silver Nissan Altima. After the victims stopped, a Hispanic man approached their vehicle and fired several rounds. Munoz died on his way to the hospital and the 17-year-old passenger was shot in his thigh. Hernandez is currently being held on .1 million bail while Solis’ bail was set for million. 760

More than seven months after Hurricane Irma a Vero Beach, Florida woman is still feeling the effects of the damage.Her vehicle was totaled from flooding and sold. But that sale is still costing her because of one item she left behind on the car: her license plate.Now, her family wants to keep anyone else from making the same costly mistake.Jamie Portell’s mother lives at Indian River Estates assisted living in Vero Beach.Portell rode out the storm with her mother there.The next morning, they realized her mother’s car flooded.“The seats, the electric, she couldn’t adjust anything,” Portell explained. The carpet was soaked.They called the woman’s insurance company, State Farm, and said someone came out, looked at the car, totaled it and arranged for it to be towed away.About a week later, Portell said she took her mother to a local State Farm location to pick up a check.“We didn’t think anything more about the car, until about four months later she received, from the state of New Jersey, a bill with the picture of the back of her car,” Portell said.The letter was a toll road fine.“She was very upset not knowing what had happened to the car,” Portell said.  They called State Farm and asked the agency to take care of the mishap.“Another 3-4 weeks later, she gets another bill from the state of New Jersey with another picture of her car,” Portell said. It was another fine.“Called the insurance company again and said 'I thought this was taken care of, can you please look into it, ' ” Portell said.This month, they did not get a bill and hope this matter has been resolved.But, they learned a lesson.“Definitely remove your plates. You don’t think about those things needing to be done, you just assume your agency is going to take care of that,” Portell said.A State Farm spokesperson told Scripps station WPTV in West Palm Beach in a statement: "While I am unable to speak to the specifics of this claim due to customer privacy reasons, I can share in general that we typically encourage customers to remove all personal belongings and items from the total loss vehicle prior to being towed, including their personal license plate. State Farm works with an auto salvage vendor to dispose of the salvage vehicle in the form of a salvage sale. If personal property was not removed from the vehicle, that property may remain on the vehicle throughout the sale. Most Americans will spend more to heat their homes this winter, according to the US Energy Information Administration, part of the Department of Energy.As coronavirus pandemic safety measures continue around the country, more Americans will be spending more time in their homes this winter compared to previous years. Spending more time in the home for work and school plus the projected forecast for a colder winter, could combine for an increase in natural gas, electricity and propane heating costs.“EIA generally expects more space heating demand this winter compared with last winter based on forecasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) that indicate colder winter temperatures. U.S. average heating degree days in this forecast are 5% higher than last winter,” the agency stated.The EIA is projecting households will spend about 6 percent more than last year if they use natural gas, 7 percent more if they use electricity and between 12-18 percent more than last year if using propane for heat this winter.Those using heating oil could see a decrease of about 10 percent this year over their heating bills last year, according to the agency.In their short-term energy outlook report, the EIA also said renewable sources of electricity will grow in 2020 and into next year.“EIA forecasts that renewable energy will be the fastest-growing source of electricity generation in 2020. EIA expects the U.S. electric power sector will add 23.3 gigawatts (GW) of new wind capacity in 2020 and 7.3 GW of new capacity in 2021,” the report stated.They also expect a 26 percent decrease in US coal production in 2020.“COVID-19 and efforts to mitigate it along with reduced demand from the U.S. electric power sector amid low natural gas prices have contributed to mine idling and mine closures,” they stated.The agency is also projecting a 10 percent decrease in US energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in 2020, as a result of reduced consumption of fossil fuels.
