Xi also expressed appreciation for International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff experts' analysis and suggestions, saying the inclusion of the Chinese currency yuan, or renminbi (RMB), into the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) basket will help increase the representation and attraction of the SDR, improve the international monetary system, and safeguard global financial stability.

"Therefore, amid changing regional and world situations and despite ups and downs in the bilateral ties, the traditional friendship between the two communist parties and the two countries is always the mainstream of the Vietnam-China relations," Quan said.

During talks with Vietnamese leaders, Xi urged the two sides to inherit and maintain the "comradely and brotherly" traditional friendship.

Hailing the progress in practical cooperation since the establishment of the partnership in 2011, Xi suggested the two sides further enhance political trust in each other, maintain the momentum of high-level interactions and strengthen coordination in international affairs.

The two sides exchanged views over issues such as China-U.S. economic relations and preparation for the 26th Session of the China-U.S. Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade.
