(KGTV) - A 10-year San Diego Sheriff's Department employee has been arrested for groping a 14-year-old girl at a North County restaurant this year.Timothy Wilson Jr., a 32-year-old Vista detention center deputy, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of felony lewd act on a child for the March 21 incident. (KGTV) - The mother of a 14-year-old girl sexually assaulted by a San Diego Deputy filed a civil lawsuit citing negligence and invasion of privacy.Deputy Timothy Wilson pleaded guilty to lewd acts on a minor and two counts of unlawfully taking computer data. He’s serving jail time. The victim’s mother, Jennifer Tanis, says Wilson accessed her daughter’s police file 44 times. He was able to get her home address, videos, and pictures of her daughter. She tells 10News she’s suing the county, not for money, but change. Currently, all deputies are allowed to access police files, but she thinks the only person who should have access to them is the lead investigator.She says the county failed her.“There was no system in place to protect my daughter, her story or the pictures they took of her during the investigation," Tanis said.Tanis is pushing for change not only in the county but the entire country. She reached out to Congressman Mike Levin’s office for help. San Diego County has said they have the capability of making police reports private, but only in some cases. VISTA (CNS) - A homeless man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow transient outside an Escondido fast-food restaurant was ordered today to stand trial on a murder charge.John Christopher Burns, 48, is accused of stabbing Jose De Jesus Martinez in the neck shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, outside the Burger King on West Valley Parkway.According to preliminary hearing testimony, witnesses said Burns made statements indicating he believed the 32-year-old victim was trying to steal his bicycle, which had been left outside the restaurant.Martinez was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Escondido Police Department.Burns was arrested by San Diego County sheriff's deputies at the Pala Casino one day after Martinez's death.He's due back in court Sept. 2 for a Superior Court arraignment. 844

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department is suing Walmart, alleging the company unlawfully dispensed controlled substances through its pharmacies, helping to fuel the opioid crisis in America. That's according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person says the civil complaint points to the role Walmart’s pharmacies may have played in the crisis by filling opioid prescriptions and by unlawfully distributing controlled substances to the pharmacies during the height of the opioid crisis. The lawsuit claims Walmart wanted to boost profits and pressured employees to fill prescriptions quickly, according to the Wall Street Journal. “Walmart knew that its distribution centers were using an inadequate system for detecting and reporting suspicious orders,” said Jason Dunn, the U.S. attorney in Colorado. “As a result of this inadequate system, for years Walmart reported virtually no suspicious orders at all. In other words, Walmart’s pharmacies ordered opioids in a way that went essentially unmonitored and unregulated.”Walmart operates more than 5,000 pharmacies in its stores around the country. The Justice Department’s action comes nearly two months after Walmart filed its own preemptive suit against the federal government. Walmart's lawsuit at the time claimed the Justice Department and Drug Enforcement Administration were trying to scapegoat the store for what Walmart says are the federal government's own regulation shortcomings, according to the Wall Street Journal.
