A Wisconsin bank is paying customers a bonus for turning over change as there a national coin shortage. The Community State Bank is paying out for every 0 in coins turned over to the bank. The coin buyback program is open to those who do not have an account with the bank.“We are certainly encountering crazy times,” said Assistant Vice President, Retail Operations Director, Katie Stolp. “Our goal from this program is to provide local business owners with the funds and tools they need to run their business. Many other financial institutions charge up to 10% of the value for coin counting. We’re not only waiving that charge, but paying community members to bring us their coin.”According to the Federal Reserve, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the supply of coins. The pandemic, it says, has caused circulation of coins to drop. The Federal Reserve said it has implemented a temporary cap on the orders banks place for coins with the Federal Reserve to ensure that the current supply is fairly distributed. The coin shortage has prompted major retailers to no longer be able to return exact change to customers amid the shortage. 1149

All the big box stores are already offering holiday deals. They're ramping them up even more at the beginning of November. Our online shopping habits from the beginning of the pandemic, when you may have purchased things because you felt anxious or sad, may be setting us up to overspend now.“You're just so determined to feel better that you suddenly care less about the price, so there are these financial aspects that can build on top of those emotional ones,” said Lisa Rowan, Personal Finance Expert at Forbes Advisor.Rowan says our emotions throw off any sort of spending rules we've set for ourselves. To reverse the spending habits you may have picked up, experts say it typically used to take three weeks.“Experts have been saying lately that it takes longer than that, two to three months,” said Rowan. “It could be more and the thing with building a habit is not necessarily that you do it perfectly every time, but that you take steps and learn as you go.”Other things to do to retrain your brain include making your budget official.Rowan says if you write it down and put it in a place, you can see you'll be better off, because you're not just relying on your brain to know the rules you set for yourself. She also says to set yourself a shopping curfew.Researchers say you have to know your body and when you may be worn down and more likely to overspend. 1375

About 700 women die each year from pregnancy-related complications, according to the CDC. Monday they launched “Hear Her”, a campaign to raise awareness and provide educational material to empower pregnant and postpartum women. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data shows there are considerable racial disparities; women who are Black, American Indian, or Alaska Native are two to three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. There is a website with more information on the CDC’s site, that includes personal stories from women who had serious complications, and a list of signs to watch out for to discuss with your doctor. Some of these symptoms include headaches that won’t go away, fever, extreme swelling, severe belly pain, and overwhelming tiredness.“Pregnancy and childbirth should not place a mother’s life in jeopardy, yet in far too many instances, women are dying from complications,” said CDC Director Robert R. Redfield, MD, in a statement. “This seminal campaign is intended to disrupt the too-familiar pattern of preventable maternal mortality and encourage everyone in a woman’s life to be attentive and supportive of her health during this important time.”The campaign is focused on women who are pregnant, new mothers, and their friends and family engaging in conversations and talking about health concerns.“A woman knows her body. Listening and acting upon her concerns during or after pregnancy could save her life,” said Wanda Barfield, M.D., M.P.H., director of CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health at the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.According to CDC data, about one third of maternal deaths happen during pregnancy, about a third happen during delivery or within a week of having a baby, and the remaining third happen between one week and one year postpartum. 1880

A White House official wrestled a microphone away from a CNN reporter at a press conference with President Trump in the East Room of the White House Wednesday.CNN reporter Jim Acosta questioned the President about his rhetoric surrounding a migrant caravan that is traveling on foot to the United States. While trying to ask a follow-up question, Trump repeatedly told Acosta he was moving on.At that point, a White House staffer attempted to take the microphone out of Acosta's hands."CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them," Trump said. "You're a very rude person. The way you treat Sarah Huckabee Sanders is horrible. You shouldn't treat people that way.""I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN," Trump added.NBC News reporter Peter Alexander later defended Acosta's character to President Trump before asking his question.Later in the presser, Trump called the media "hostile," telling reporters they were "rude" for interrupting.  1010

A woman in southern Alberta is thankful she didn't swallow what was in a cup she was served at McDonald's as the woman was served a cleaning solution instead of a latte, the CBC reported. Sarah Douglas, who is due with her third child in two months, said all it took was a small sip to realize what she had was not a latte. "I immediately had to put my hazard lights on and pull over and spit it out and rinse my mouth out with ... water," Douglas told the CBC. "I opened up the lid of the coffee and out pours this pungent smell of chemical. It wasn't a latte at all."Douglas returned to the McDonald's location and the manager discovered that a cleaning solution was hooked up to the restaurant's coffee machine. "The supervisor went and got the bottle that was hooked up to it and brought it over to the counter, and I took a picture of it, so I knew what I was working with — what I had consumed so I could talk to 811 and poison control," Douglas told the CBC.  999
