CAMP PENDLETON (KGTV) - Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is balancing mitigating risk of exposure to the coronavirus with training to keep Marines ready for deployment."Changes of command are smaller, retirements are smaller," Col. Jeff Holt, Deputy Commander for Marine Corps Installations West, Camp Pendleton, said.At changes of command, Marines are masked and six feet apart, and large formations are no more."We have mitigation measures to protect our people but life's not perfect, life gets in the way. We have to overcome those obstacles and challenges because we have a greater mission and that is to our nation," Col. Holt said.The Marines take pride in the 'First to Fight' motto. The 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is deployed in Jordan and the 15th MEU is preparing to deploy. Coronavirus is not creating a delay."There are choices that are made to protect the people but also to replicate what we would face in combat because the requirements of the Marine Corps do not stop," Co. Holt said Marines are training the way they would fight overseas.Units are quarantined for two weeks before and after deployment to ensure everyone is healthy. When units are training they are isolating, they do not go home each night. Marines are asked health screening questions and given temperature checks.It's not just training that has changed, the commissary and thrift store have a strict cleaning schedule and safety barriers just like San Diego's grocery stores.Col. Holt said they've been learning from San Diego and took notes, implementing strategies used at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar when flights from Wuhan, China arrived. The plane was carrying U.S. citizens that were stranded in Wuhan because of the coronavirus outbreak.At Camp Pendleton, restaurants are also similar to what you would see around the county. The only exception is the chow hall, Col. The alleged attack late Sunday by 21-year-old Jessica Hill and 18-year-old Jayla Hill left the 32-year-old victim hospitalized in critical condition. Police spokeswoman Karie James said Tuesday an argument that began after the women refused the guard’s request to wear masks became physical when one of the women punched the man. Jessica Hill allegedly pulled a knife and began stabbing the man, while Jayla Hill held him by his hair. CARLSBAD (CNS) - A train struck and killed a pedestrian this afternoon at a coastal northern San Diego County rail depot, authorities reported.The fatality at Carlsbad Village Train Station on State Street in Carlsbad occurred about 2:30 p.m., according to sheriff's officials.The victim, whose name, age and gender were not immediately available, died at the scene, Lt. Christopher Collier said.Northbound and southbound Coaster train runs were suspended in the area until further notice due to the death, North County Transit District officials advised. CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) - Camp Pendleton issued an alert Friday for a Marine missing on a recreational backcountry ski trip. 1st Lt. Matthew Kraft left for Kearsarge Pass on the Sierra High Route Feb. 23 and was scheduled to return Mar. 4 or 5 near Bridgeport. His rental car, a gray 2016 2-door Jeep Wrangler has not been found at the trip’s starting point in Independence. 11 law enforcement, federal, and state agencies are searching for Kraft. The Fresno County Sheriff, CHP, and Air National Guard have been conducting aerial searches. Anyone with information is asked to call authorities. 608

Some people in the city told 10News they’re happy the President is paying attention to their community while others say they don’t support him and wish he’d stay away. A plaque now hangs from a new section of the border fence proclaiming it to be the first section of Trump’s border wall.
