SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 6,000-gallon tanker carrying highly flammable ethanol overturned in Mission Valley Thursday afternoon, prompting a hazmat response. The tanker overturned near the intersection of San Diego Mission Road and Rancho Mission Road near SDCCU Stadium after 3:30 p.m. The entrance to the stadium was closed as crews cleared the scene. Authorities said 40-60 gallons of ethanol spilled and made their way to a nearby storm drain. Crews were able to prevent the ethanol from entering the San Diego River.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, crews drilled into the tank to remove additional fuel.The driver was injured as a result of the crash and was taken to the emergency room. His injuries are unknown at this time. SDFRD officials said the driver tried to make a 90-degree turn when the semi overturned. At around 2 a.m. Friday, crews were able to move the truck upright.Roads that were closed by the incident were expected to be reopened by 6 a.m. 986

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two San Diego City Council members called Wednesday on California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and District Attorney Summer Stephan to investigate San Diego City Attorney Mara Elliott's possible role in an alleged child sexual abuse cover-up at the San Diego Junior Theatre.Council members Scott Sherman and Vivian Moreno sent a jointly written letter to Becerra and Stephan imploring them to investigate allegations made by attorney Matt Valenti that Elliott improperly shared information on the case with then-Junior Theatre Board member Gil Cabrera, who Valenti claims tried to silence the case's whistleblowers."We are writing to respectfully request your respective offices' review and consideration for appropriate action, as the authority to investigate these complaints falls under the jurisdiction of your departments," their letter states. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A California Highway Patrol officer was taken to the hospital Thursday after a crash on SR-163 near Interstate 5 in Balboa Park.The officer was driving south on the highway approaching I-5 when he saw a pedestrian on the right shoulder.He slowed his patrol vehicle to make contact but was involved in a collision with another car.CHECK TRAFFICCHP officials said the veteran officer was disoriented and taken to Sharp Hospital as a precaution.
