SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Gas prices in Southern California could reach .30 per gallon in the next several weeks, according to a GasBuddy. The company’s senior petroleum analyst, Patrick DeHaan, took to Twitter to announce that prices could soar to .15 to .30 per gallon in the next 10 to 14 days. According to DeHaan, the average price per gallon reached .85 in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon and is expected to “breach in the next few days.”DeHaan tweeted out earlier Wednesday that prices in Southern California could spike by anywhere between 25 and 40 cents per gallon in the coming days. The news comes amid problems at several California refineries and just weeks after attacks on oil fields in Saudi Arabia. Several of the refinery issues include unplanned work at PBF refinery in Torrance, an outage at Chevron’s Segundo refinery, a flaring event at Valero Benicia and Marathon’s LA refinery, DeHaan says. The squeeze comes as restrictions increase related to the coronavirus, including a 30-day travel ban from Europe, a county ban on events of 250 or more people, and cancellations of major conventions. Long said hours have been as fewer customers come in. She noted that a convention happening at the convention center that was supposed to attract 8,000 people only saw a fraction of those attendees. John McKlosky was one of those attendees, lamenting the shell of the Fiber Optic conference he attends annually. RELATED: What's been canceled, postponed in San Diego, nationally due to coronavirus"I walked in and was practically the only person standing on the carpet," McKlosky said. "I've talked to restaurant owners, hotel owners, even the Uber drivers that are running me around. They're devastated."Already, five conventions through May have postponed or canceled, meaning 43,000 potential customers won't be coming downtown. The quick drop off of overnight guests is impacting more than just hotels in downtown, but also lodging in surrounding areas that get a spill over. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Due to struggling ridership, the City of San Diego has been busy creating a plan to revamp its bikesharing program. On Wednesday staff will provide an update on improvements made and future plans, in response to a grand jury report in 2016.The program, DecoBike, is privately owned but works in partnership with the city.Critics of the program say it has not met the city's needs due to where stations were built.Last year a county grand jury report titled "San Diego's Bikesharing Program Needs Help," outlined ways the city and DecoBike could improve to better serve the community. One recommendation was to put more stations in beach communities, even though local business owners and residents protested them being there.Since then, the city has done the opposite, removing 14 stations from beach communities.City spokesperson Katie Keach says the city and DecoBike are concentrating on increasing the number of stations in the urban core.By doing this, they believe it will provide for a comprehensive system to increase alternative transportation options. They say it will also help the city meet its Climate Action Plan goals.Keach says they hope to have additional stations in North Park, Uptown, Golden Hill and downtown this winter. The city is conducting presentations to community planning groups this fall, seeking public input.Bicycle and climate activists want the program to succeed, saying it's critical to the city's Climate Action Plan. 1486
