SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas and Electric warned customers that the company may have to shut off power to some rural residents due to Santa Ana winds.The notifications come as the Valley Fire rages and a red flag warning remains through 8 p.m. Wednesday night. The company said it notified more than 16,000 customers about the possible public safety power shutoffs. Notified residents should be prepared to be without power through Thursday, SDG&E said.The Valley Fire has scorched more than 17,000 acres and is 11% contained as of Wednesday morning. 567

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Rallies were held in six different states in what organizers are calling "The March for Reparations to African people."Crowds gathered at the waterfront in downtown San Diego Saturday afternoon wearing masks with signs in hand.Among them was Wendy Craig, who is part of the UHURU Solidarity Movement, the group that organized the rally. Craig says they’re calling on people to do more acting and less talking. You have to take a material stand of solidarity and turn over the stolen resources."Craig says many people that registered to participate in this event also raised money towards a collective reparations goal. "Four years ago when we organized a march for reparations we did not have a lot of success. But that was shifted through the George Floyd protests, and Breonna Taylor. That shift has brought a lot of unity to what we’re doing," Craig said.Collectively, this organization had set a goal of raising ,000. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are searching for a woman they have identified as a person of interest in a recent homicide case in the Talmadge area.Police believe 25-year-old Sheila Camarena may be linked to a deadly shooting that occurred on Sept. 18, in the 4400 block of Euclid Avenue.According to police, in the early morning hours of Sept. 18, officers responded to a reported shooting in which a 33-year-old Black man was injured.The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified by police as Mychael Farve.A witness said the suspected shooter may have fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, but police did not verify the witness’ statement.Camarena is Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 170 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes, but police noted Camarena is known to dye her hair blonde and/or red.According to police, Camarena is considered armed and dangerous.Anyone with information on her whereabouts or the Sept. 18 case is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to ,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case. 1153

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police Officers are patrolling the College Area, cracking down on noise and health order violations as San Diego teeters on the edge of the red tier for coronavirus restrictions.Friday eight cease and desist orders were issued to College Area houses. The reason being the residence "intends to hold large gatherings on Oct. 30, 2020, - Nov. 1, 2020, in blatant violation of the Order of the State Health Officer, the County Order of the Health Officer and Emergency Regulations, and CDPH's October 9, 2020 gathering guidance."Saturday on Dorothy Drive near Dorothy Way it was easy to hear music, excited yelling, and chatter from multiple homes. A steady stream of young people came and left various houses.Normally, Jean Hoeger says it gets pretty wild, but when she went out Friday, "it was pretty quiet you didn't see the hoards of kids walking on the street which is kinda common in the College Area."Hoeger is a representative of the College Area Public Safety Committee."There were parties but they all seemed to be inside small groups, loud noise was not really present so nothing you could call into the police department for a noise disturbance," Hoeger said.
