Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is checking himself into a hospital Saturday after revealing he tested positive for COVID-19, he said in a tweet. In consultation with my doctors, I checked myself into Morristown Medical Center this afternoon. While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure.— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) October 3, 2020 The governor cited a history of asthma for checking into Morristown Medical Center despite saying he was "feeling good." “I just received word that I am positive for COVID-19. I want to thank all of my friends and colleagues who have reached out to ask how I was feeling in the last day or two. I will be receiving medical attention today and will keep the necessary folks apprised of my condition,” Christie tweeted Saturday morning. I am thankful for our hardworking medical professionals and look forward to coming home soon.— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) October 3, 2020 Christie assisted President Donald Trump with debate preparations earlier this week.Trump is being treated for COVID-19 at Walter Reed Hospital after announcing early Friday that he and first lady Melania had tested positive. This story was first reported by Stephen M. Domestic workers often don't have basic legal rights and protections that most workers take for granted. That includes jobs like nannies, housekeepers and home care employees. Now, they’re hoping a new proposed federal labor law will protect them for the first time ever. Nurse June Barrett is used to taking care of others, but today, she feels she's taking a big step to take care of herself. Barrett traveled to Washington, D.C. with about 100 other domestic workers to rally for safer job protections. “He would touch me, kiss me, say horrible things to me,” Barrett says of one of her past employees. As a live-in caretaker, Barrett says she has worked for patients who would sexually harass her. “I suffered in silence,” she says. “I had to suffer all of that by myself.” For decades, federal labor laws have excluded domestic workers from many protections, which has had an impact on about two million nannies, house cleaners and home care workers. Nine states have passed bills to protect domestic workers but now, Congress will consider a bill to ensure those workers earn at least the minimum wage, get paid sick leave and overtime, meal breaks and stronger protections against harassment and discrimination.“We need to have a federal standard, a national standard, so that workers are protected in every state. Not just some,” says Monica Ramirez with the National Domestic Workers Alliance. Ramirez hopes for the first time in history, there will be legal protections for domestic workers in their work environments. It’ll be a historic bill that could provide domestic workers protections most other workers take for granted. “Why aren't we getting the protection that we need?” asks Barrett. “Why shouldn't we get the protection we need?” 1766

It’s been a month since both of you went home to Paradise to be with Jesus. I spend most of my time imagining what both of you are seeing and experiencing. As my tears fall, I remind myself of what the apostle Paul said in first Thessalonians 4:13-14 NIV “Brothers and sisters we do not want you to be on uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him”. For me this is not the end but only a brief interruption. One day soon we will have a magnificent reunion and all of us will be with the Lord forever. Until then I will press on to the ultimate goal of spending eternity in Heaven. My family and I would like to thank everyone across this country who has prayed for us and sent words of encouragement our way. I also want to thank the baseball community; The love and compassion we have felt has been unbelievable. It truly feels like we are one big family. Thank you @ourbaseballlife for everything you have done to support us during this time. I also want to thank the @raysbaseball for their continuous support through all this. 1248

INDIANAPOLIS – An employee at an Indianapolis Target Starbucks has been fired after posting a video on TikTok showing a fake “Blue Lives Matter” drink with what looked to be bleach. The video shows a Starbucks employee with a cup that reads “Blue Lives Matter.” The barista says, “First, we’re going to start with bleach all the way to the third line,” and pours a liquid into the cup. They put ice in the cup and say, “Because cops love ice,” then add a red mixture saying, “Then a little blood of innocent black men.” They have since been fired, a Target spokesperson said.Since the Starbucks was inside a Target, all hiring and management decisions are done by the Target. A Target spokesperson said they don’t believe actual bleach was ever used, just milk and water. They also said the drink in the video wasn’t served to anyone.Target’s full statement is below:“This video is appalling and unacceptable. We don’t tolerate this behavior at Target, want all guests to be treated with respect and have terminated the team member who was responsible. We also have rigorous food safety procedures in place, which this team member egregiously violated with this behavior. We’re deeply sorry for this disturbing video, which TikTok has removed based on the platform’s guidelines.” This article was written by Matt McKinney for WRTV 1352
