CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Two Good Samaritans say they saved a man off the ledge of the Coronado Bridge late Monday night. They said they spotted him while driving home from San Diego, and couldn't help but turn around to get him. 10News Photojournalist Zach Wonderlie talked to them about the life-saving rescue"We were driving from the San Diego area to Coronado and I noticed a kid sitting on the ledge," said Aiden Leavitt. The driver of the car, Charles Crehore, instantly sprung into action - deciding to back up on the empty bridge and help save the man's life. "I'd actually thought about this. I'd thought, 'If if I ever get in that situation, what am I gonna do?" Crehore said. "And I decided if it comes to me and I'm there...I'm stopping my car, I'm gonna get out and I'm gonna stop them."As he backed up to where the man stood on the bridge, Leavitt jumped out of the passenger side and bear-hugged the man on the bridge. "I just didn't hesitate. I just jumped out of the car and I grabbed him," Leavitt said. The man didn't fight back as Leavitt pulled him into the car, and allowed the friends to drive him to Sharp Coronado Hospital. It wasn't long before his family and police showed up to help.The men say they're grateful that they were in the right place at the right time. "I just hope that he works his way through whatever it is that he's having trouble with," Crehore said.If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms of depression, the number to the San Diego Crisis Hotline is 888 - 724 - 7240. 1626

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A settlement has been reached after a police officer used a Taser on an 11-year-old girl while working an off-duty detail at a Kroger in Southwest Ohio.The City of Cincinnati and Kroger have agreed to pay the family of Donesha Gowdy 0,000 to settle the claim of excessive force, according to a news release from family attorney Al Gerhardstein.Donesha had been shoplifting from the Kroger on Aug. 6 when Officer Kevin Brown, who was on security duty, ordered her to stop. She didn't. The officer fired his Taser as she walked away. One probe struck her at the base of her spine; the other hit between her shoulder blades.The incident prompted an apology from Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley and a promise from Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman to review Cincinnati Police Department’s protocol on Tasers.Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot K. Isaac promised “a very thorough review” of Brown's actions, as well as the department’s use-of-force policies as they pertain to juvenile suspects. Congressman Duncan Hunter is continuing to stand up for his political livelihood, one year after a federal campaign fraud indictment.Voters in the 50th District re-elected Hunter in November, despite 60 federal charges of campaign fraud against him and his wife Margaret. The Hunters were accused of misusing 0,000 in campaign contributions - funding things like lavish vacations and living expenses. Now, the congressman is facing attacks and challenges from members of his own party as he pushes to renew his term in 2020. "When he was first indicted, everybody wrote his political obituary," said Political Analyst John Dadian. But Hunter, a Republican, is very much alive. He beat Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar in 2018, and is continuing to fight the charges in Federal Court.The challenges, however, are mounting. In June, Margaret Hunter reached a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to testify against her husband. Plus, Judge Thomas Whelan ruled federal prosecutors can use details of Congressman Hunter's alleged affairs with five Washington D.C. area women, allegedly funded with campaign contributions, as part of their case. "I think voters in the 50th District have said, and they clearly spoke in November of 2018, that they want to wait for the courts to decide and give them a clear judgment before they decide on the political fate of Congressman Hunter," said Thad Kousser, who chairs the political science department at UC San Diego. Hunter's trial has now been pushed back to mid-January to wait for a decision on his appeal to have the case thrown out. That means voters will be getting their absentee ballots while the trial is ongoing. "They're going to have very litlte time to make up their minds after this trial," Kousser said. In 2020, California will hold its primary on March 3. In prior years, the primary would be held in June. In addition to Campa-Najjar, a Democrat, a number of San Diego-area Republicans have challenged Hunter.
