The Federal Trade Commission said Americans should be wary if they receive a phone call regarding their stimulus check. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the US government issued ,200 checks to millions of Americans with a number of businesses closed. The FTC is warning that scammers could potentially try to trick you out of your personal information. The agency says that fraudsters rig caller ID to make the number appear to come from a government hotline.“Government agencies usually will not call or email you — especially about something related to money. They almost always contact you by US mail,” the FTC said.The IRS is sending letters to Americans as a confirmation for receiving the stimulus check.The FTC says that scammers will claim to be calling over something such as Medicare, Social Security, or in this case, your stimulus check, and will ask for personal information to verify.“If you get a call or email from the IRS or any government agency asking you for personal information or money, that’s a scam. Hang up the phone or delete the email,” the FTC said.If you have questions about your stimulus check, you can call an IRS hotline at 800-919-9835.The IRS said earlier this month that 159 million Americans have received a stimulus check. A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing three people after they invited him over for Thanksgiving at their Avondale, Arizona, home. Court records show 33-year-old Brandon Robinson met two of the victims days before at a bar. Robinson had explained to them that he didn’t have family in town or a place to go for Thanksgiving, so they invited him to their home. According to one of the victims, after about 15 minutes at the home, Robinson began to act erratic and grabbed a knife approximately eight inches in length. Robinson then allegedly stabbed all three of the victims with the knife. One of the victims, a male, was stabbed approximately seven times and was hospitalized in critical condition. One female victim was stabbed approximately five times and had to have surgery for injuries. A second female victim had one stab wound but did not need to be hospitalized.Robinson reportedly left the scene before police arrived, but was located nearby with a large cut on his hand.No motive for the attack has been given.Robinson has been arrested and faces three charges of aggravated assault. 1116

A toddler was found in a cage during an animal rescue operation in Henry County.Henry County, Tennessee, Sheriff’s deputies raided a home with several outbuildings in the northern portion of the county Thursday.The child, who is under the age of two, was found in a cage in the same room as several large constricting snakes next to a box of live mice. The child was filthy, but unharmed and is now in DCS custody. A source said the reptiles could have easily killed the toddler.Deputies found several large marijuana plants and the group rescued more than 100 animals from the home.District attorney Matt Stowe says the child's parents and a grandparent were taken into custody.
