Wolverines have been spotted on Washington’s Mount Rainier, and it’s causing quite a stir.For the first time in more than 100 years, a mother and two offspring, called kits, were photographed in Mount Rainier National Park.“It’s really, really exciting,” said Mount Rainier National Park Superintendent Chip Jenkins in a statement from the National Park Service. “It tells us something about the condition of the park— that when we have such large-ranging carnivores present on the landscape that we’re doing a good job of managing our wilderness.”Scientists are hopeful that the sighting of a reproductive female and kits means wolverines may start returning to the park. Camera stations were installed in 2018 to photograph and identify wolverines based on their distinctive chest fur patterns. The stations can also detect if the wolverine is a lactating female, as is the case with the one spotted recently. 919

With the NBA planning to resume play late next month, the league said on Friday that after testing 302 players for the coronavirus on June 23, 16 players tested positive.The league did not say which players had tested positive for the virus, but those players will remain in self-isolation until they satisfy public health protocols for discontinuing isolation and has been cleared by a physician.Meanwhile, the league is moving forward with a planned relaunch on July 30, with 22 teams of the league’s 30 teams participating in the conclusion of the season and subsequent postseason based at Orlando’s Wide World of Sports. Fans will not be allowed to watch in person.The league also announced that the 2020-21 season will begin on December 1. The league suspended play on March 11 when Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19 moments before tipoff in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The play-in tournament will be double elimination for Team 8 and single elimination for Team 9.The NBA’s standard playoff tiebreaker procedures will be used to break any ties on the basis of winning percentage. Fontrell Antonio Baines was arrested on three felony counts of access device fraud, aggravated identity theft and interstate transportation of stolen property. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Baines faces up to 22 years in federal prison. The 31-year-old goes by the stage name Nuke Bizzle. Federal prosecutors allege that Baines and co-conspirators fraudulently obtained at least 92 debit cards pre-loaded with more than .2 million. (CNS) - A wind-driven brush fire that broke out on the west end of Corona in Riverside County and quickly spread into Orange County -- threatening homes in Yorba Linda and blackening 15,200 acres -- was 0% contained Tuesday.Initially called the Green Fire and later renamed the Blue Ridge Fire, the blaze was reported at 12:55 p.m. Monday adjacent to the Green River Golf Club, just off of Green River Road and the Riverside (91) Freeway, according to the Corona Fire Department.Ten homes were damaged in the blaze, but the location and extent of damage were not immediately available, according to the Orange County Fire Authority, which added that more than 1,000 firefighters were battling the blaze.Evacuations have been ordered in 5,958 homes in Chino Hills and 2,500 homes in Yorba Linda. In Brea, 276 homes were ordered evacuated, 680 homes voluntarily evacuated and no homes were damaged there, officials said.Unlike most of the day Monday, firefighters on the ground were expected to get help from helicopter water drops on Tuesday as the intense winds have lessened, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. That means water bombers could be used if conditions don't deteriorate, the spokesperson said.There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.A grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency was secured Monday by Gov.
