The mother of a Michigan high school student cried in court as a judge said her son's million bond would remain in place, but that he would consider written arguments from the teen's defense attorney next month.  The 17-year-old DeBruyne, a South Lyon High School student is charged with Making a Threat of Terrorism, which is a felony, after the teen allegedly asked friends on Snapchat if they wanted to reenact what happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida where 17 people were killed days earlier. One friend reported the post to police. DeBruyne lives in Green Oak Township with his parents, and after receiving report of the alleged threat, police went to the family's home where they said the teen had no firearms in his possession. Friends and some fellow students on South Lyon High's Cross Country team and their parents showed up at court Wednesday in support of DeBruyne. "I don't think Ryan DeBruyne is a danger to anybody," said Michelle Klevering who also called her son's friend a "very good kid" and "very responsible."DeBruyne's defense attorney, Zack Glaza, asked Judge Travis Reeds to consider lowering his client's million dollar bond. Judge Reeds said he would consider written motions on the matter on March 22 when DeBruyne is due back in court for a preliminary examination.   1391

The Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest had a different look and smaller field on Saturday. Instead of being held outside in front of thousands of screaming spectators, it was conducted inside with a limited number of officials. The field was also much smaller as travel restrictions kept some competitive eaters away from the venue.But present were the two reigning champions who have dominated the contest in recent years, and they did not disappoint.Joey Chestnut won his 14th Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in the last 15 years by consuming 75 hot dogs, marking a world record. The only competitor in the last 15 years to beat Chestnut, Matt Stonie, was among those unable to compete due to New York’s travel restrictions.Chestnut also became the first competitor to consume 1,000 hot dogs over the lifespan of the annual Fourth of July contest.Miki Sudo set a new women’s world record by consuming 48.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes on Saturday, surpassing Sonya Thomas’ marker of 45 hot dogs. Sudo, 34, won her seventh consecutive title on the women’s side. 1069

The National Transportation Safety Board released a report Wednesday stating that the pilots were likely at fault with the August 2019 plane crash involving former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family in Tennessee.The report stated that the pilot's approaching the runway at Elizabethton Municipal Airport too fast and the flight crew's decision not to abort the landing was the likely cause of the crash.The plane then bounce landed, causing a landing gear to collapse, and the pilots losing control of the airplane."Contributing to the accident was the pilot's failure to deploy the speedbrakes during the initial touchdown, which may have prevented the runway excursion, and the pilot's attempt to go around after deployment of the thrust reversers," the report said.Earnhardt's wife and child were also onboard the plane when it crashed.The agency said the pilot and co-pilot were not injured, and the three passengers sustained minor injuries.You can read the full report below: NTSB Earnhardt Jr. Report by Sarah Dewberry on Scribd 1058
