(CNN) -- The White House and Capitol Hill is considering a phone app connected to the National Instant Criminal Background Checks (NICS) as one of the options in their discussions for plans to reduce gun violence, according to a Senate source and a person familiar with the talks.The proposed app would be used for background checks using private sales, and not for purchases involving commercial dealers, one of the sources told CNN. Although their jobs are drastically different, they do have some of the same training.The Humane Society’s Emergency Response Team has been rescuing animals from the path of the flames. The team has helped small pets like cats and dogs, as well as larger farm animals.At one point during a rescue on Sunday, Humane Society teams were forced to turn around as the fire jumped the road in front of them.“It's still scary, you have to understand that fire behavior, you have to understand what's happening when you see it coming down and how far you need to be away from up,” said Lt. (KGTV) — A high-speed pursuit took San Diego Police from Mid-City to La Mesa Thursday before the driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.San Diego Police were pursuing the driver on Interstate 8 before he exited the highway at Spring St. in La Mesa, at about 5 p.m. The driver continued to drive in and out of traffic on surface streets before rear-ending a vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot. Police told 10News they tried to stop the man, later identified as Dontae Smith, 28, in connection to a burglary. During the chase, Smith ran into several cars before getting out and running across train tracks. Police began combing the trolley station at Date Ave. and Spring St. as well as a nearby residential area.At about 5:15 p.m., police took Smith into custody. Police say they found a gun in his car.Police says Smith is the suspect in a burglary reported in the 4400 block of Dawson Avenue. An officer tried to pull over a vehicle matching the description of a suspect vehicle leaving the scene. Instead they say Smith raced off.Smith is facing several charges including prowling, violation of parole, evading police, and other charges stemming from the pursuit. (KGTV) — A Los Angeles-area police pursuit ended late Tuesday with a suspect breakdancing as officers held him a gunpoint before being arrested.The chase took California Highway Patrol officers through the San Fernando Valley after the suspect failed to yield to commands to stop, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.Officers pursued the suspect over the 101 Freeway, north on the 405 Freeway, and then east onto the 118 Freeway.As the driver slowed in the Pacoima area, officers were able to enact a PIT maneuver and spin the suspect's vehicle out.The driver exited the vehicle and began walking backward toward CHP officers. But before turning himself over, he stopped and began breakdancing in the street, as officers kept their firearms trained on the man.After a short dance, the man surrendered to police without incident. 832
