News can happen at any time and any place, ujst ask Anna Boyko-Weyrauch.  The reporter from KUOW Public Radio had just locked her tray table into place when the pilot of the plane that was about to fly her to San Diego announced a delay."He says there’s a guy, and he’s got a plane and he’s flying around Seattle and so he’s tying up all the airways" said Boiko-Weyrauch. Her plane was among the 40 or so stranded for more than an hour while a rogue airport employee flew a Horizon Airways plane in the skies above Seattle.Boiko-Weyrauch immediately fired up her cell phone and began tweeting.  "I kick into news mode," she recalled.  "I hear these things from the pilot. I'm trying to confirm them."She used Twitter and e-mail to try to learn more about the situation. The pilot came back on the plane's intercom, telling passengers the man delaying their flight learned how to fly on the internet.  Somehow he managed not only to take off, but to fly past Mt. Rainier and the Olympic Mountains. She tweeted: Hey @AlaskaAir, can you confirm any of the reports we’re hearing and reading? A stolen Q-400? A suicidal pilot? F-15 escorts? A crash? Anything? About an hour and 15 minutes after the delay began, Boiko-Weyrauch read a tweet that said the plane had crashed and smoke was seen.  Moments later, her pilot told passengers the delay was over. She set her phone to flight mode and waited three hours until the flight landed in San Diego to confirm the man who stole the plane crashed it and died.Boiko-Weyrauch laughed as she admitted she almost left her work cell phone behind, thinking she wouldn't need it during a weekend visit with her 93-year-old grandmother.  The reporter in her decided to keep the phone handy, just in case. 1829

NORMAL HEIGHTS, Calif. (KGTV) - A local photographer, known for her poignant pictures of pets, says she’s no longer able to work after being hit by a car on Sunday.Tamandra Michaels said she was crossing El Cajon Boulevard in North Park in a marked crosswalk when she was hit from behind by a car making a left-hand turn.“Just T-boned completely,” she said. “My wheel took a good hit, instead of my body. Then I slammed into the ground.”MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodHer service dog, Justice, was on the other side of her and made it away uninjured.Michaels said she didn’t break any bones, but along with scrapes and bruises, she has a lingering pain in her left shoulder. That has compounded problems from previous shoulder and arm injuries and has made it nearly impossible for her to lift herself into her car, which has been modified for her to drive without foot pedals but does not have a ramp or lift. She has been trying to raise funds to buy a van with a wheelchair lift for more than a year, but the need has become more urgent.“I have to,” she said of buying a van, “if I want to keep my independence.”Her GoFundMe page can be found here. 1178

NEW YORK (AP) — A presidential campaign that was already tugging at the nation’s most searing divides has been jolted by the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It represents a seismic shift in a race that had been defined by a pandemic, economic uncertainty and civil unrest. Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill began sparring almost immediately over when to replace the former justice. But the political shockwaves were only just beginning to ripple across battleground states, where high-stakes Senate races were suddenly supercharged and presidential operations were forced to rethink their messaging just over six weeks until Election Day — and with early voting already underway in five states. 730

NEW YORK (AP) — Facebook says hackers accessed data from 29 million accounts as part of the security breach disclosed two weeks ago.The exact number hadn't been known before. Originally Facebook said 50 million accounts could have been affected, but Facebook didn't know if they had been misused. The hackers accessed name, email addresses or phone numbers from those 29 million accounts. For 14 million of those accounts, hackers got even more data, such as hometown, birthdate, the last 10 places they checked into or 15 most recent searches. One million accounts were affected but hackers didn't gain information. The social media service plans to send messages to people whose accounts were hacked.RELATED: What to do if your Facebook account is breachedFacebook said third-party apps and Facebook apps like WhatsApp and Instagram were unaffected by the breach.Facebook said the FBI is investigating, but asked the company not to discuss who may be behind the attack.Previously, Facebook said the attackers gained the ability to "seize control" of those user accounts by stealing digital keys the company uses to keep users logged in. They could do so by exploiting three distinct bugs in Facebook's code. The company said it has fixed the bugs and logged out affected users to reset those digital keys.RELATED: Facebook removing more than 550 pages, 250 accounts spreading false informationAt the time, CEO Mark Zuckerberg — whose own account was compromised — said attackers would have had the ability to view private messages or post on someone's account, but there's no sign that they did.If you believed your account was hacked, you can start by visiting Facebook's online resource. 1708
