She says the doctor of one patient even called police about the neglect. “When the doctor pulled the bandages off she couldn't believe what she saw; she said the wounds were worse,” Ramirez said. “She asked if the dressings were being changed when they were supposed to, if the resident was getting up out of bed when she was supposed to and I told her 'no,'” Ramirez said. Ultimately, Ramirez was fired for putting a clean bandage on that patient. She shared recordings of her termination. University Heights said she was operating out of the scope of care. “What they told me was I should have left the dirty bandage on her backside,” Ramirez said. Operated by Vivage, University Heights says Ramirez is a disgruntled employee and her claims are unsubstantiated. “We are truly a very compassionate organization with a lot of experience. in Colorado on Sunday afternoon.The Larkspur Fire Department said the group of eight people were hiking near the Devils Head Lookout at the summit around 3 p.m. when the lightning strike in Pike National Forest occurred. Ryan Smedra, the incident commander for Jackson 105 Fire Protection District, said the strike hit a rock wall near the hikers and the blast knocked many of them violently to the ground.Five of the hikers affected were able to walk out of the area on their own, the fire department said. They were treated for minor injuries. But a couple of them had burns from the strike, Smedra said. Some of the patients also complained of having tingling sensations.Two other adults required assistance. One of them was transported to the hospital for observation. The eighth victim, an adult woman, suffered critical injuries. She had to be carried down from the trail in a stretcher and was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Officials could not say what type of injuries she sustained. However, Smedra said she did not appear to have burns.Douglas County Search and Rescue said the operation was challenging due to the area's terrain. More than 30 people from multiple agencies were involved in rescue efforts. The lookout tower, established in 1912, is used by the U.S. Forest Service to spot fires. He also wanted her to tell the church family that he was sorry.During the gathering Monday afternoon, church members and relatives comforted each other with a potluck. When the pastor of their church unexpectedly stepped down, Roman felt called to take on the responsibility.She remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather."It's going to be very hard without him. If not, leave it for someone else in need.’”Find Your Anchor is based out of Orange County, California, but boxes have reached places all across the globe. The boxes can be requested by people in need, ordered by mentors who want to help people in need, or launched in a public place for somebody to find. Borowsky says she thinks launching them organically into the world, is the most powerful way for somebody to encounter a box.“It’s like a message from the universe," she says. "Like ‘I was meant to find this, this was put here for me.’”The box holds multiple items to give people hope: a deck of cards titled “52+ reasons to live”, a bracelet, an infographic on depression, a sticker, a couple posters, some cards on how to become a messenger, and a list of resources. Borowsky felt inspired to create Find Your Anchor, after her own struggles with mental health. She attempted to take her life multiple times. Now, she's helping others who may be in a dark place. Keeping track of each individual box, Borowsky says she’s received notes from many people saying the box has saved their life. And that’s why more and more mental health advocates are standing behind Find Your Anchor.“I like the find your anchor box because it’s empowering the individual immediately, and yet provides resources for them if they need more than just the box,” Amanda Greene says.Greene says she can’t stop ordering Find Your Anchor boxes, because she understands their powerful impact.“Living with chronic illness and having it for a long time, there’s days where you’re like ‘OK, I’m done,’” she says. As soon as the people receiving boxes are in a better place, they’re encouraged to pass it on, adding an item that was an anchor for them.Whether it’s a phone call on the top of a bridge, or a box by the beach, what’s most important for people to realize, is that they’re not alone, they’re loved, help is available, and there is hope.“My core belief in the height of my darkness was that no one would care," Borowsky recalls.
