(KGTV) - An El Cajon homeowner knew he had a bee problem but never expected the "massive" hive discovered in his backyard."It's pretty incredible," said Herb Herbert.He first noticed a few bees about two years ago in the back yard of his home on Primrose Drive."The bees were coming in and out of a small hole at the bottom of my shed," said Herbert.The vent hole is one of several that led to open spaces under his shed. Last winter, the bees seemed to go away, but they were back in the summer. Herbert was stung once while mowing the lawn."There were 20 to 30 bees buzzing outside at any time," said Herbert.Herbert had plans for some entertaining in the near future, so last week he hired Bee Nice Wildlife Management. They peeled back the wood flooring in one corner of the shed and discovered a 30-inch long, 70-pound hive, home to between 100,000 and 150,000 honey bees."I had no idea the scope of what was under there. It was massive and amazing. The bee guy said we were lucky, the bees were getting set to expand the hive," said Herbert.As the local bee season gets underway, Herbert calls that possibility mind-boggling. While honeybees are generally not aggressive, they can still be dangerous.The bee removal company was able to relocate the hive and the bees. They say the size of the hive is not an indication of what may lie ahead. Because it's been a slightly above average rainfall, the region is likely in store for a typical bee season. 1482

(AP) -- Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke has been banned from Twitter for breaking the social media platform's site's rules.The company said Friday that Duke's account "has been permanently suspended for repeated violations of the Twitter Rules on hateful conduct."It didn't specify what exactly Duke posted that triggered the ban, but it's policy on hateful conduct prohibits promoting violence against people based on religious affiliation, race and ethnic origin.Twitter said the ban was in line with its recently updated policy aimed at cutting down on harmful links. 584

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police believe a University of San Diego professor accused of making threats against fellow professors may have a gun in his possession.Last week, 10News reported on the ordeal unfolding inside USD's Theology and Religious Studies Department: Fliers circulating with three pictures of professors, labeling them "fascists" and urging boycotts of their classes. Versions of the flier with gun cross-hairs were slipped under those professors' doors. 10News has learned two of those professors have filed for restraining orders against fellow professor Louis Komjathy, now suspended by the school.RELATED: Professor accused of threats made against University of San Diego professorsSan Diego Police filed for their own gun violence restraining order to take away any weapons, a request granted by a judge citing "credible information" Komjathy owns one or more firearms, ammunition or magazines. In the restraining order petition, officers say when they asked him about owning a gun, he said, "I do not. Search my apartment and my car if you want."Meanwhile, there are new details about Komjathy's motive for the fliers. Komjathy had been passed over for a promotion, and in the police interview, he reportedly said, "It was supposed to be symbolic representation of having a target on their backs and being singled out. I did not mean to infer violence on anyone ..."The possibility of an actual gun is once again sparking lingering questions raised at a recent student protest, concerns the school didn't notify students in time. The university releasing an email about the fliers about a week after they were first discovered.A spokesperson with the school reissued the following statement: "Our commitment to protecting employee privacy restricts our ability to share further details of an incident that clearly violates university policy and is antithetical to our mission and values. Wrapping Christmas presents can be time-consuming, but there are some tricks to get it done faster, so you can focus on enjoying the holiday season. It’s common to cut wrapping paper too short or to not have enough paper left to wrap a gift. Giftwrapping expect Kammy Witulski says don’t throw it out. Instead, turn the gift sideways and you should be able to wrap with no issues. If you don’t have wrapping paper or if it’s too expensive, Witulski says there’s nothing wrong with using tissue paper. “Tissue paper comes in really nice packaging these days,” said Witulski. “You can get multiple designs in one package for just a few dollars. And it's usually between 20 to 30 sheets per package and that's plenty for you to do a lot of giftwrapping."However, you’ll need to remember to use two to three sheets, so you don’t see the gift and the tissue doesn't rip. Soft items like clothes can be hard to wrap, especially if you don’t have a box. Witulski suggests using two sheets of tissue. Roll the item, place it on the tissue and then start to roll up the clothes into the tissue, making it look like a piece of candy. Use ribbon to tie the ends, and it's the perfect little Christmas treat.Lastly, if the edges of your presents look a little wonky because the they're not crisp and clean, Witulski says to hide your lack of wrapping skills by using double sided tape, so nobody will notice mismatched folds. 1425
