Lion Air Flight 610 was intact with its engines running when it crashed at high speed into the Java Sea, the head of Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee said Monday.Soerjanto Tjahjono said that due to the small size of the debris found and loss of the plane's engine blades, investigators determined that Flight 610 did not explode in the air, but was in "good shape" before it crashed 13 minutes after takeoff on Monday, October 29.Speaking with victims' families on Monday in Jakarta, Soerjanto said there was a technical problem with the brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the day of the crash. LAKE MURRAY (CNS) - A 48-year-old man was taken to a hospital with multiple major fractures after hitting a Subaru WXR on the 5000 block of Campanile Drive, authorities said today.A 20-year-old behind the wheel of the car pulled out of an alley in front of the 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, while trying to drive north, according to Officer Robert Heims, with the San Diego Police Department.The motorcyclist was westbound on Montezuma Road and made a left turn southbound onto Campanile Drive, where the biker hit the car, Heims said.The driver of the Subaru had no injuries. LITHIA, Fla. — A Tampa Bay teenager is thankful for the device on her wrist after suffering a scary medical episode at The Crossing Church in Brandon, Florida. "I didn't know what was going on at all and it was just out of the blue," Deanna Recktenwald said. A warning appeared notifying the 18-year-old that her resting heart rate hit 190 beats per minute. "It was alarming that the watch was telling us to seek medical attention," said Stacey Recktenwald, Deanna's mother. "I didn't even know that it had the capability of giving us that alert."Stacey Recktenwald is a registered nurse and did not initially question the accuracy of the watch's reading. Staff at a walk-in clinic confirmed the teen's rapid heartbeat. "I was surprised, it was right on," said Stacey.The Recktenwald's said the watch saved Deanna's life. After arriving at the emergency room, doctors at Tampa General Hospital soon discovered Deanna suffers from chronic kidney disease. Both kidneys are only operating at 20 percent and she will likely require a future transplant. "Instantly started to pray and thank God for her having that watch," said Tom Recktenwald, Deanna's father. The high-tech Christmas gift came to the rescue, uncovering a serious health problem that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. "Now that we have some answers to why this is happening we can prevent something major from happening down the road," said Deanna. Stacey Recktenwald recently wrote Apple to thank the tech giant for its life-saving feature.  1601

LA MESA (KGTV)— Meteorologists are predicting a wet Christmas week in San Diego. 10News revisited residents at the San Diego RV Resort in La Mesa that dealt with a Thanksgiving flood to see if they are prepared for the next set of thunderstorms. Taylor Jaime showed 10News around the RV resort. "She [My mother] was cooking a turkey at my sister's house for Thanksgiving," Jaime remembered. She said she never got to enjoy that turkey after her home got washed away. Jaime and her family live at the San Diego RV Resort full-time. On Thanksgiving day, heavy rains inundated the ravine that runs parallel to the resort. "So the water started coming over this [the wall]," Jaime motioned. The retaining wall collapsed and the water came up waist-high, destroying two of her cars, their 40-foot trailer and everything inside. Unfortunately, their the new RV was insured at the time of the storm. "The water was so nasty. There was crab, there was fish in the trailer," Jaime remembered. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the RV resort is right in the middle of a heavy flood zone. The resort staff told 10News they just finished rebuilding the wall Saturday. In the last month, Jaime said she saw Caltrans and California Conservation Corps workers clean up some of the debris, but she fears another collapse. "The water won't be able to go through. It'll get stuck down there, like last time," pointing at the west end of the resort lot.With heavy rains forecasted during Christmas week, some of Jaime's neighbors have already lined sandbags along their lots. Lucky for Jaime and her family, they have a spare trailer, albeit an older and smaller one. They parked it away from the ravine and closer to the entrance gate. Six people and several small animals are now crammed inside the trailer. They didn't skimp on holiday decorations, though."We are still in the spirit," Jaime said. "It's not going to bring us down. We are still a family. We still have each other. And that's what matters the most."10News reached out to San Diego RV Resort's parent company for comment to see if they are making other preparations ahead of the storm.
