ANDERSON, Ind. -- An armored truck spilled money on the interstate after it hit several potholes on I-69 early Saturday morning and crashed into a ditch. The crash happened near Anderson around 1 a.m. local time.The Garda armored delivery truck driver told the deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office that he hit several potholes which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and he overcorrected, hitting a guardrail and sliding into a ditch.The rolled several times before it landed on its side. Deputies say some money was on the road after the crash but most of it remained secured in the armored delivery vehicle.The driver and his passenger were treated for minor injuries on the scene.  The armored truck delivery company sent another truck to the scene to recover the money and the truck.  842

An 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday night, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.The quake was centered 16 km west of Jacó, Costa Rica, at a depth of 10 km, according to the USGS. It gave the quake preliminary magnitude of 6.8, but later downgraded it.The observatory at the Universidad Nacional Costa Rica said the earthquake measured 6.9.Jacó lies southwest of Costa Rica's capital, San Jose, and is part of the region of Puntarenas, on the Pacific Coast.Emergency response agencies activatedThree people suffered fatal heart attacks that coincided with the time of the earthquake -- two in Jacó and one person further south in Coronado -- according to a statement from Costa Rica's presidency.It said the country's Judicial Investigation Agency was investigating the deaths.At least one building in Jacó had been evacuated due to apparent damage and there were reports of walls collapsing and objects falling in other parts of the country, but there were no reports of any further injuries, the statement said.Costa Rica's hospitals were functioning normally and minor power outages had been quickly resolved, it said, with the quake felt most severely in the provincial districts of Quepos, Parrita and Garabito -- of which Jacó is capital.The presidency said that emergency response agencies had been activated and remained on alert following the quake.President Luis Guillermo Solís earlier tweeted that no tsunami warning had been issued.Police called for calm.The Fuerza Publica warned on Twitter that there were landslides on the road between Jaco to Tárcoles, further north.  1634

An envelope containing ricin was recently sent to the White House, which has prompted an official investigation, sources told the New York Times and CNN.According to New York Times sources, the exact location of the origins of the letter is unknown, but believe to have been sent from Canada. Mail sent to the White House is screened off site before reaching the complex.According to the CDC, Ricin is a poison found naturally in castor beans.“If made into a partially purified material or refined into a terrorist or warfare agent, ricin could be used to expose people through the air, food, or water,” the CDC said, adding that there is no known antidote for ricin.The White House has been the target of ricin mailings in the past. In 2013, the FBI confirmed two letters were sent to the White House containing ricin. 827

An unauthorized vehicle drove onto Travis Air Force Base in Northern California, crashed and erupted into flames, killing the driver, authorities said.There were no other fatalities in the security breach Wednesday night, the base said in a statement. It did not identify the driver, but said the car "gained unauthorized access" through the main gate."Travis AFB security forces immediately responded," the statement said. "Additionally, the base's explosive ordnance disposal team, office of special investigations and other responders were on scene."It's unclear whether the crash was deliberate. The Air Force and the FBI are investigating."The investigation is ongoing and there are no current known threats to the base or community," the base said. " The main gate has reopened and all other facilities are operating as normal."Travis Air Force Base is home to 10,000 military personnel, and a major hub for logistics and military cargo in the Pacific.
