MINSK, May 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday called on local-level governments of his country and Belarus to expand cooperation and play a bigger role in consolidating the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Li said the country should step up implementation of these measures with view to increase investment in laggard areas, improve policy combinations to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, and provide new impetus for securing steady growth and upgrading economic structure.

Besides meetings with Pakistani leaders, Xi will also meet individuals and groups that have made contributions to the two countries' relations and give them the Friendship Award of "The Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence."

Also during Xi's visit, Pakistan's Karot hydropower project became the first recipient of funding support from China's 40-billion-dollar Silk Road Fund, which said in a statement that it will actively provide more financing opportunities for other projects under the CPEC framework.

Hong said China's relevant authorities have implemented fish moratorium for many years in the sea areas under China's jurisdiction.
