(KGTV) - Several white nationalist posters were discovered at California State University San Marcos, campus officials said Tuesday.The posters, which were found at various locations Monday, advertised a group that is identified by multiple civil rights organizations as a hate group, according to CSUSM.According to the university, the group responsible for putting up the posters, Identity Evropa, is the same group that put up posters at SDSU in February. The university believes the timing of the posters is connected to the Pittsburgh shooting.University Police removed the posters, which violated the college’s posting policy, officials said. The college is investigating the matter.“While we grieve for the victims and offer our support to those impacted – the survivors, their friends, family members and loved ones – I want to be clear: White supremacy and anti-Semitism, or any other doctrines that expose hate and elevate one group above another, have no place at Cal State San Marcos,” said CSUSM President Karen Haynes in a news release.“We strongly condemn language and actions that promote racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, violence, discrimination and other forms of hate. (KGTV) - The library at Willow Elementary School is officially be renamed the "Ramon Parra Library" on Friday, in honor a man who dedicated his life to the children of San Ysidro."Anything that needed to be done, he did it," remembers Emilio Noriega, Jr., who played baseball with Parra's son. "He didn't look for any help, he did it himself."Parra is credited with founding the San Ysidro Little League. He also served on the local school board for 18 years. Friends say he served on countless other committees and community boards, all working to make San Ysidro a better place."He was the kind of person that did everything for everybody and didn't ask for nothing," says Jaime Mercado. "He was one of the most honest people you ever ran across."Parra passed 30 years ago. The effort to honor him began in 2017. Mercado and a few other people from the Friends of San Ysidro group started a petition to rename the whole school after Parra. When that failed, they set their sights on the library.A GoFundMe campaign raised ,100 to pay for new lettering. The San Ysidro School Board chipped in another ,000. In addition to the name on the outside of the library, a picture of Parra and an explanation of what he meant to the community will be on display inside."There are so many people in town who never heard of him," says Noriega. SANTA ANA (CNS) - With coronavirus cases spiking, Orange County officials Wednesday ordered the closure of all bars effective at midnight and continuing until further notice, while Newport Beach officials voted to close their beaches for the Fourth of July weekend.The county order affects all bars, pubs, breweries, and brew pubs that do not offer dine-in meals. Establishments that do serve dine-in food can only sell alcohol in the same transaction as a meal.The closure order was expected ahead of the holiday weekend, given similar action already taken in surrounding counties of Los Angeles, San Diego and Riverside. Orange County officials expressed concern that if they did not act, the county would become a magnet for holiday revelers from across Southern California."While we would prefer not to close bars at this time, many of our neighboring counties have closed their bars, and it's important to take precautions to ensure the safety of the general public," County Supervisor Michelle Steel said in a statement.In an emergency meeting, Newport Beach City Council members voted 6-1 to close the city's beaches from 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Sunday. (KGTV) - A well known funeral home in San Marcos wants to add on-site cremation services, but the plan is facing pushback from the community.Allen Brothers Mortuary has filed paperwork with the City of San Marcos to start the project. Meanwhile, people who live nearby have started a petition online to stop it."If this project goes forth, there are serious health risks that could affect YOU," says the petition.The County of San Diego website lists several possible emissions from crematoriums, including, "oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, oxides of sulfur, particulate matter and toxic air contaminants. Emissions of mercury are a specific concern for crematories."It also discusses rules and state laws that companies have to follow to mitigate any emissions, including secondary chambers.People who live nearby say they're worried about the impact it could have on their lives."It's a little disconcerting," says Pam Davidson, who lives in Whispering Oaks Apartments across the street from the mortuary. "There are enough toxins in our environment and around here with traffic and everything like that.""Families have kids here," says Nemai Martinez, who also lives at Whispering Oaks. "We don't know about ashes going up into the air. Plus the smell."In addition to the apartment complex, the mortuary is within steps of the San Marcos Post Office, the San Marcos Senior Center, a small shopping complex and a community park and playground.Karen Allen, the owner of Allen Brothers, says her company is aware of the concerns and wants to make sure her company works with the community.The company sent a statement to 10News that reads, "Linda Allen has heard the concerns of the community and is and has been, an avid supporter and proponent of this community. She wants to be clear that whatever she does here would only be done with the support of her community. Linda and her company have been at this location for nearly 40 years and want to continue that relationship in perpetuity. We are working with our Environmental consultants on addressing the neighbors’ concerns and evaluating whether or not those can be mitigated. We will know more once the studies have been completed." Last year, a crematorium in National City sent black smoke billowing into the air for nearly 30 minutes after a door was mistakenly left open.
