MILWAUKEE -- Seven people were shot at the Serenity Funeral Home in Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon, police say. Acting Police Chief Michael Brunson said all seven victims are in stable condition and are expected to survive. The victims are a 48-year-old woman, a 26-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman, a 29-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old man.There's no word yet on what caused the shooting, and the exact circumstances that led up to it are still under investigation. NAMPA, Idaho -- An Idaho woman decided to become a surrogate after giving birth to her son in 2018, because she wanted to give the gift of motherhood to someone else. After consulting with her husband, Emily Chrislip started the process in February 2019."We couldn't imagine what we would do without our own biological child, so we started looking into surrogacy and applied to some California agencies," Chrislip said.By September of that year, Emily was chosen as a surrogate for a couple in China. The process went as expected, up until two months before giving birth, when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic and travel restrictions were put in place."So, the plan was to get here before the due date, and we were going to let them be in the delivery room. They were going to be a part of it, see her be born. So when she was born, they were supposed to get their own room at the hospital with the baby, and my husband and I would've had our own room, and my job was done at that point," Chrislip said.But things didn't go as planned. More than four months later, Emily is still caring for the baby even though the original plan was to hand the baby off as soon as she gave birth."I actually had some people I work with ask what about the baby's parents, and I was like, 'Oh shoot I don't know what's going to happen,' and so that's what started bringing up conversations like, 'OK, what's going to happen if they can't get here?,'" Chrislip said.The biological parents had the option of having a nanny agency care for the baby until they could travel to the U.S. to pick the baby up, but instead asked Emily and her husband if they would step in and care for her.Emily says she put herself in the parent's shoes and knew she had to care for the baby."So we were like, 'well alright, we'll take care of her,' it will be a max four weeks, we can do that, and now here we are and still don't know when they'll be here," Chrislip said.The first obstacle the biological parents faced with getting to the U.S. was the travel restrictions, but now getting a flight is nearly impossible since flights from China to the U.S. have decreased to one per week.Although the future looks uncertain, Emily says she doesn't mind caring for the baby in the meantime."So, we'll keep taking care of her, keep doing what we're doing and just kind of take it a week at a time until there's something more set in stone on when they're going to be here," Chrislip said.This story was originally published by Stephanie Garibay at KIVI. 2520

More than 228,000 pounds of Hormel Spam and other canned meat products are being recalled because they might contain shards of metal, according to the US Department of Agriculture.The department's Food Safety Inspection Service said Saturday that the problem was discovered after four customers complained of metal objects in canned Hormel products. The FSIS did not say how the pieces of metal might have gotten into the products.Throughout the US, 12-ounce metal cans labeled "SPAM Classic" with the designation "EST. 199N" should not be eaten because of a risk of minor oral injuries, FSIS said. The cans have a "Best By" date of February 2021 and carry the following production codes: F020881, F020882, F020883, F020884, F020885, F020886, F020887, F020888 and F020889.Possibly contaminated cans of meat were also distributed in Guam. These 12-ounce metal cans contain "Hormel Food Black-Label Luncheon Loaf." The recalled cans are marked "Best By" February 2021 and carry the production codes F02098 and F02108.The products should be immediately thrown away or returned to the place of purchase, FSIS said. MILWAUKEE —The Milwaukee County Zoo welcomed another brand new baby giraffe to their family this month.According to the Milwaukee County Zoo, the new female calf was born one week ago to mother Marlee, and dad, Bahatika. This marks the second offspring for Marlee, and the fourth for Bahatika. The new giraffe joins young male, Kazi, the most recent giraffe born at the Zoo in September 2017.Zoo doctors say the calf weighed about 174 pounds and was approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall during her first exam.Zookeepers and medical staff have been monitoring the mother and her baby.  They say Marlee appears very calm and attentive to the calf, who is nursing regularly.Marlee is 6 yearsold, and arrived at the Milwaukee County Zoo in 2013 from Zoo Miami.
