SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- On July 3, visitors will once again be able to ignite their minds in the world of science and curiosity, as the exhibits at the Fleet Science center in Balboa Park will be open for exploration."We're very excited to welcome everyone back into our building," says Fleet Center Communications Manager Karla Nafarrate. "We just can't wait until the exhibit gets going, as well as the theater. We've missed everyone so much."The Fleet Science Center is a hands-on museum, and because of that, major safety precautions will be in place. That would include reduced capacity, visitors must wear face masks, and social distancing. Add to that, the entire museum will be sanitized before it's opening."The coolest part is that we have a sanitizer that cleans everything, and gets rid of any little bacteria. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Monday identified the victim in a deadly Mount Hope-area shooting in late December. According to police, 54-year-old Darryl Toliver was shot and killed in an alleyway on the 800 block of Raven Street around 2:45 a.m. December 29. Witnesses told police and unknown man and two vehicles were spotted leaving the area around the time of the shooting. RELATED: 1 dead in Mount Hope-area shootingThe man was described as black and in his 20s, wearing a dark cap, long-sleeved white sweatshirt and dark sweat pants. Police said at the time that the man was only a person of interest. One of the vehicles spotted leaving the scene was described as a white, 1990s Honda Accord while the other was described as a 2006-2010 Chrysler 300. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police say no one was injured after a vehicle slammed into a downtown San Diego Starbucks Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the crash happened near 10th Avenue and Market Street around 4 p.m. San Diego Police say a semi-truck crashed into a car, causing the vehicle to slam into the building. Police say no one was injured. Photos from the scene show windows of the coffee shop shattered as passersby glanced at the destruction. 465

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Tuesday, San Diego beach parking lots, piers, and boardwalks reopened following their closures amid the pandemic. The reopening came in time for the heat wave.10News witnessed beachgoers from Pacific Beach to South Mission Beach who took advantage of the lifted restrictions.A heat advisory was in effect until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Coastal highs were in the 80s and 90s."It was a lot of fun since we can’t get out that much," said Ashyton Malan who visited the beach on Tuesday with his family. Mother Jennifer Malan added, "People are far apart and not a lot of masks but there was nobody encroaching on anybody’s space so it was nice."The City reports that visitors are still required to practice social distancing with anyone outside of their household and they cannot congregate or participate in active sporting activities on the beaches. 871
