A school bus driver was arrested after she overdosed while driving and crashed into a tree, Newark police said.The driver, Lisa Byrd, was transporting a dozen students from 14th Avenue School in Newark when the vehicle crashed into a tree on Wednesday, officials said in a statement.When first responders arrived, police said they revived the 57-year-old woman with Narcan -- a drug that instantly reverses the effects of overdose from heroin and other opioids.The students, ages 5 to 13, were not injured, police said.Byrd, who was taken to a local hospital, is facing 12 charges of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while impaired and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.It was not immediately clear whether Byrd has an attorney."Endangering the lives of Newark children is something we will not tolerate," said Newark Mayor Ras J. A suspect is in custody after he allegedly stabbed five people at a workplace in Tallahassee, Florida.The suspect, 41-year-old Antwann D. Brown, was arrested almost immediately after police arrived on the scene at Dyke Industries.Investigators say Brown is an employee of Dyke Industries. Police claim he clocked in at 8 a.m. local time. He quickly got into a verbal dispute and was asked to leave at 8:20.That when, according to police, he "spontaneously" stabbed a total of five employees with a folding knife.Tallahassee nterim Chief Steve Outlaw said that after Brown attacked, employees held Brown at bay by grabbing anything they could find in the office. When Brown ran away from the scene, arriving officers quickly apprehended him about a block away from Dyke Industries, 10 to 15 minutes after the first stabbing.Outlaw said it appeared Brown only sought out certain victims and had no pending employment issues at his job. At this time, police don't have a motive and don't believe the incident was related to the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks."You can't help but wonder, on the first flush when you hear that, is this related to the anniversary? You just can't help but wonder that," Outlaw said. "Very, very sad occasion... A New Zealand island volcano vented more steam and mud Wednesday, prompting authorities to delay plans to recover the bodies of victims from a deadly eruption two days ago.Volcanic tremors on White Island were intensifying to a level not seen since an eruption in 2016, the GeoNet seismic monitoring agency said, calculating a 40% to 60% chance of another eruption within the next 24 hours.Meanwhile, Australia was sending a military plane to bring some of the Australians injured in the eruption to Australia for specialist medical care. Authorities expected to transport 10 injured patients to New South Wales and Victoria states, beginning Thursday.Six deaths have been confirmed in Monday’s eruption, which sent a tower of steam and ash an estimated 12,000 feet (3,660 meters) into the air. The bodies of eight other people are believed to remain on the ash-covered island. And 30 people remain hospitalized, including 25 in critical condition.
