SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — City Council leaders on Tuesday approved the purchase and sale agreement that formalizes the sale of the Mission Valley stadium site to San Diego State University.Following the council's approval of the PSA, a required 30-day waiting period begins. After that, Mayor Kevin Faulconer will sign the agreement to complete the sale and begin the escrow period of the land.Transfer of ownership of the stadium site is expected to take place in early August. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than .4 million over three months across San Diego County's ports of entry, according to the agency.CBP says the undeclared money bound for Mexico was seized between April and June at ports of entry including Calexico, Otay Mesa, Cross Border Xpress, San Ysidro, and Tecate, CBP says.One of the largest stops occurred in May when a vehicle was stopped in Otay Mesa and discovered money hidden in boxes with other items in the cargo area of the vehicle."These various interdictions by our vigilant officers are just a fraction of the regular attempts we see during the year," said Pete Flores, Director of Field Operations for CBP in San Diego. "This is a demonstration of our officers’ efforts in stopping the illegal movement between our borders." 828

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Bagging vegetables, opening boxes, organizing volunteers.Every month the parking lot at Unity Church in City Heights becomes a mini grocery store."Without this service a lot of people wouldn't even have a plate on the table to be able to say I had my meal today," said Chanae Jackson.Jackson started this food distribution several years back, partnering with Feeding San Diego to make it possible.She also found others who wanted to give back, including her friend Dede Jackson."You have hungry babies at home these places help they help they help feed your family," Jackson explained.Both women know how appreciated the groceries are because in addition to volunteering, they also take home food.They tell ABC 10News there's always been people lining up, but since COVID-19 hit, those lines have grown. Every month they serve roughly 70-100 people.Anyone can get food, no questions asked; they only need to be at least 18 years old. 960

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Bike the Bay celebrated its 11th annual ride on Sunday but this year it added some safety changes. Roughly 3,000 people participated in the popular bike ride. The ride is 25 miles and takes cyclists over the Coronado Bridge, through Coronado, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and National City. It's the only day of the year where bikes are allowed on the iconic bridge. This year, the event made some changes after an accident during the ride last year. Christina Rocheleau who was not participating in the ride collided head-on with a participant who was trying to pass cyclists along the trail. Rocheleau suffered a fractured nose and three fractured vertebrae. She hasn't been on a bike since. At the time of the accident, organizers told us that they take safety very seriously. This year, they added more signs along the route, more volunteers to guide cyclists and made the route all one-way. All of the proceeds for the ride go towards the San Diego County Bike Coalition, an organization that promotes bicycles as a form of transportation and advocates for safer roads for cyclists.   1156
