VISTA (CNS) - Law enforcement Wednesday asked for the public's help in finding a suspect wanted in connection with a series of break-ins and attempted break-ins over the past month.Between Oct. 25 and Nov. 20, the same man is believed to have targeted five businesses in Vista -- sometimes successfully, sometimes not -- in seven separate incidents, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers.The businesses were Tabacinic Chabad Jewish Center at 1930 Sunset Drive; Tiki Mobile Village at 1333 Olive Ave; Maximum Recycling at 430 Olive Ave; and Wholesale Sports Inc. and Get Air Vista, both located at 2755 Dos Aarons Way.The man is suspected of stealing a total of ,500 in cash, a 0 iPad and a carved tiki stump valued at about , in addition to causing about ,000 worth of damages, investigators said.He was described as white or Hispanic, about 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-11, with a thin build and a distinct tattoo on his left forearm. VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Between the hustle and bustle of serving hungry customers at Commune in Virginia Beach, you'll find small pops of beauty.That beauty took a new form on Friday when Dan Pew walked through the doors.He was visiting from Ohio with his fiance and said he wanted to spread love and positivity during his time in the Resort City.A few days before vacation, he was scrolling through the social media platform Tik Tok when he came across posts about the Venmo Challenge.It encourages people to give back to their community."You ask your social media followers - [it can be] your friends, your family, or businesses or anybody and you say 'hey if you want to donate through Venmo Challenge tag 'the awesome human being' or 'for the food service worker' and then you donate and then you surprise a food service worker with a tip," Pew said.Pew was inspired by the videos of people surprising waiters and waitresses, so he took the plea to his followers on social media.In a message he said, "We're going to Virginia Beach for vacation this week and we want to surprise a food service worker with a huge tip."After putting the challenge out there, the internet got to work. Pew racked up hundreds of dollars in his Venmo account in just a few days.Then on Friday, after being helped by Aubrey Seykerbuyk at Commune, Pew pulled out 0.Seykerbuyk recalled the moment that made her jaw drop to the ground, "He had like a wad of cash and started counting it out in front of me and I honestly didn't know like what was happening. Warning: Video attached is disturbingLAFAYETTE, La. -- Louisiana State Police are investigating after a Black man was shot and killed by officers in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Friday.State police say shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday, the Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a person armed with a knife at a convenience store. Officers encountered 31-year-old Trayford Pellerin of Lafayette in the parking lot of the convenience store on NE Evangeline Thruway. As officers tried to apprehend Pellerin, troopers say he fled the scene and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers deployed Tasers as they pursued Pellerin, but they were ineffective.Pellerin, who was still armed with a knife, attempted to enter an occupied convenience store along the NW Evangeline Thruway. Officers discharged their weapons and Pellerin was struck by gunfire.Pellerin was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No officers were injured.The officers have been placed on administrative leave, according to the spokesperson for the Lafayette Police Department.The investigation is active and ongoing. Investigators with the state police will be reviewing body cam video from Lafayette police.Video being widely shared on Facebook shows a man with what witnesses said was a knife in his hand walking away from police toward a convenience store.
