HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. -- A local sheriff’s department has issued a warning to parents about a marijuana candy that seems to be making the rounds.The HTC-infused gummies were recently found by deputies in Hancock County, Ind.“They are gummy candy squares, but not your average fruit snacks,” the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department shared in a Facebook post Wednesday morning. “These are THC gummies.”If you look closely, you can see the letters THC printed on each piece of sugar-coated “candy.”“If you come across these, contact your local law enforcement office,” the department’s post said.The drug tip line in Hancock County is 317-477-DRUG.  658

HIGHLAND, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities say a man who came to the rescue of people in a burning mobile home was found dead in the wreckage.The fire erupted early Saturday morning in the Highland area of San Bernardino County.Cal Fire says arriving firefighters found four occupants had been evacuated from the mobile home but the rescuer perished.The county coroner's office says the body was found in the debris after the flames were extinguished.The coroner's office did not immediately identify the victim, but family members told KTLA-TV he was 25-year-old Albert Madrid.His sister, Melissa Enriquez, says her brother chose to go in and help, and she hopes he is remembered for that. 711

From 2000 through 2018, 459 children have died from accidental furniture tip overs, which are preventable fatalities that can be stopped by anchoring furniture to a wall.In response, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission is launching a public service announcement campaign called "Even When You're Watching.” The campaign will show the dangers of leaving furniture unanchored. The campaign includes “terrifying” footage of tip overs caught on video.In addition to the number of fatalities, the CPSC estimates that every 43 minutes, a child is injured by furniture tipping over."Even when adults are in the same room with children, dangerous tip-overs can occur," said CPSC acting chairman Robert Adler. "Many parents and caregivers do not know about this hidden hazard, or believe that they can prevent a tip-over by watching their children, but these incidents still happen. We urge adults to Anchor It! and to tell their friends and family to do so, too, because these tragic tip-overs can happen in the blink of an eye."According to a CPSC survey, 80 percent are aware that furniture can tip over, but just 47 percent say they have their TV anchors, and 55 percent say they have anchored furniture in their home.The CSPC offers parents the following tips:To protect children from a tip-over incident, follow these safety tips in any home where children live or visit:Anchor TVs and furniture, such as bookcases and dressers, securely to the wall.Always place TVs on a sturdy, low base, and push the TV back as far as possible, particularly if anchoring is not possible.Avoid displaying or storing items, such as toys and remotes, in places where kids might be tempted to climb up to reach for them.Store heavier items on lower shelves, or in lower drawers.If purchasing a new TV, consider recycling older ones not currently in use. Historic flooding in India has left some metro Detroiters stranded. More than 300 people have died after floods hit southern India. Much of the state of Kerala is under water right now, closing international airports and leaving many visitors stranded. “It’s totally devastating and something nobody had expected,” said Sujith Menon, president of the Kerala Club in Detroit. It's being called one of the worst monsoon seasons in Kerala in more than 100 years. Many homes and businesses are under water right now, but folks in Michigan are trying to help those who are in a dire situation on the other side of this world.  659
