The Florida Panthers have hired Brett Peterson as an assistant general manager, making him the first Black executive to hold that position in the NHL. "I'm very excited for this opportunity with the Panthers and with Bill's growing front office team," said Peterson in a press release. The Confederate-themed Mississippi flag is drawing criticism from two big forces in the culturally conservative state. Walmart says it will no longer display the state flag because it includes the Confederate battle emblem. Displaying state flags inside stores is a common practice. “We know the design of the Mississippi state flag is being discussed by various stakeholders. While the issue continues to be discussed, we’ve made the decision to remove the Mississippi state flag from display in its current form from our stores," Walmart spokesperson Anne Hatfield said in an email statement.“We believe it’s the right thing to do, and is consistent with Walmart’s position to not sell merchandise with the confederate flag from stores and online sites, as part of our commitment to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for all of our customers in the communities we serve," Hatfield continued. The Mississippi Baptist Convention is calling on lawmakers to remove the Confederate symbol from the flag because many people are “hurt and shamed” by it. The governing body for college athletics and other influential groups are calling for Mississippi to change its flag. Republican Gov. The FBI says a British socialite who was accused by many women of helping procure underage sex partners for Jeffrey Epstein has been arrested in Bradford, New Hampshire.The FBI said Thursday that Ghislaine Maxwell was taken into custody at around 8:30 a.m. on charges related to the Epstein scandal.Epstein killed himself in a federal detention center in New York last summer while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.Maxwell was accused by many women of recruiting them to give Epstein massages, during which they were pressured into sex. She's been charged with four counts relating to sex trafficking and two counts of perjury.During a press conference Thursday, Acting Attorney for the Southern District of New York Audrey Strauss thanked the victims who came forward to authorities. She said that without their help, they would not be able to charge Maxwell.Strauss also urged Prince Andrew to speak with investigators and cooperate with the ongoing investigations into Epstein and Maxwell. The British royal was known to be friendly with Epstein during the time abuse occurred and has described their relationship as a friendship. In the video, Alexander accuses Juanillo of "defacing private property" as he stenciled "Black Lives Matter" in yellow chalk on a wall at his home.Alexander and Larkin told Jaunillo that he was "free to express his opinion," but "that was not the way to do it."Juanillo then asked if it would be OK if he were chalking his own property. Alexander and Larkin said that they knew Juanillo didn't own the property because they "knew who lived there."Juanillo encouraged Alexander and Larkin to call the police if they felt unsafe.
