He was reported missing by his mother Saturday evening after he was last seen at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.The boy’s mother told police she thought Lorenzo might be in the San Diego area with a family member.Police said Monday afternoon that Lorenzo was found in San Diego County in good condition with a legal guardian.The circumstances that led to Lorenzo's disappearance were not immediately released. 611

(KGTV) – A California bill co-authored by San Diego-based Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez would limit the use of so-called “less lethal” weapons against protesters.Leslie Furcron said she will never forget the pain she felt May 30 when she was hit in the head with a rubber bullet during a protest in La Mesa."My head was on fire," she remembers, “they should never be shot at somebody's head like they did to me."Furcron joined several other victims of so-called "less lethal" weapons used by law enforcement on protesters throughout the state in recent months, on a call Tuesday to discuss their support for Assembly Bill 66.Victim stories prompted Gonzalez to draft AB 66. It would create the country's first standards for how and when law enforcement agencies can deploy so-called “less lethal” weapons, like rubber bullets and pepper spray.It would also ban the use of tear gas for crowd control and set minimum standards for the weapons’ use by law enforcement; for example, when a person's life is at risk. Juan Vargas was first elected in 2013. He served on the committee of financial services and the committee of foreign affairs from 2019 to 2020.Vargas previously served on the State Senate representing the 40th District, the State Assembly in the 79th District, and the San Diego City Council.Hidalgo is a retired US Marine. He faced Vargas in 2018 with Vargas capturing 71 percent of the vote.The district includes all of Imperial County and the southern part of San Diego County including National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, and El Centro. 721

(KGTV) - All evacuations and road closures have been lifted after a fire in Otay Mesa scorched hundreds of acres and tore through a pallet yard Thursday. The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department said in a tweet Thursday evening that crews would mop up the burn area overnight while checking for hot spots. No structures were lost in the blaze and no one injured. The fire, named the Caliente Fire, broke out about noon at Otay Mesa Road and Caliente Avenue. The San Diego Fire Department initially reported that crews stopped forward progress of the fire at around 3 p.m., but the blaze reignited moments later, eventually spreading to a pallet yard. According to fire crews, the pallet yard housed 80,000 pallets. Thick, black smoke could be seen flooding into the air from Moreno Pallets in Otay Mesa. Four helicopters, two fixed-wing aircraft, four strike teams and the original San Diego Fire first alarm team battled the blaze, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Southwestern College Higher Education Center in Otay Mesa was also evacuated due to the blaze. According to a spokesperson with the college, San Diego Police entered the college and told everyone to evacuate immediately. All night classes at Southwestern were canceled.
