SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego is making the push for top talent and to dispel any lingering assumptions the region can't compete with larger hubs around the country.The San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Tuesday launched their campaign "San Diego: Life. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County recorded its first death of the flu season this week, a 52-year-old woman.County health officials say the woman had underlying medical conditions and it's not known if she had been vaccinated or not."Any death is tragic. Our condolences go out to the individual’s family," Wilma Wooten, County public health officer, said. Vaccinations generally take about two weeks for immunity to develop.In addition, residents should make sure they wash their hands thoroughly and often, use hand sanitizer, and stay home if they are sick. 1128

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for a man who reportedly tried to stop a woman from leaving a locker room at a clinical training facility.According to police, the man entered the women’s locker room at the UCSD Clinical Training Facility around 11:15 a.m. on August 20.Police say the man walked in as the victim was using the restroom. The woman tried to leave, but the suspect blocked her, asking “don’t you want this,” gesturing to his body, police say.The man then left the bathroom before walking back inside and blocking the victim’s exit once again. Police say the suspect blocked the woman from exiting the restroom a total of four times.The suspect is described as a white man, approximately six feet tall with a thin build, unshaven, with short, dark hair and a gray patch near his right temple.The man also has a tribal tattoo that circles his right arm as well as various tattoos on his left arm.Anyone with information is asked to call the SDPD Western Division at 619-692-4800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1051

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Mountain View last month.Police say 81-year-old Ruben Mendez was walking in a crosswalk at the intersection of South 45th St. and Logan Ave. on June 30 just before 7:30 p.m. An unknown, silver-colored vehicle was turning left onto Logan Ave. when it collided with Mendez. The vehicle then headed eastbound in the 4700 block of Logan Ave., police say.The vehicle did not stop to check on Mendez before fleeing the scene, police added.Mendez sustained major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police identified Friday the teenager shot and killed in Chollas Creek. Damien Anthony Feliz, 16, was found lying in the north alley of 5200 Ogden Street about 10:30 Wednesday night. A witness called 911 to report the scene. Police said Feliz had at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
