For the first time since President Donald Trump appointed two justices to the United States Supreme Court, the Highest Court in the land ruled on abortion. It did not go the way conservatives and faith leaders had hoped. THE RULINGMedical Services LLC v. Russo, the case before the court, was whether a 2014 Louisiana law, which said abortion providers must have admitting privileges in nearby hospitals, could stand. The law would have left, for instance, only one abortion provider in New Orleans. Chief Justice John Roberts joined the four more liberal justices in declaring the law unconstitutional. "The Louisiana law imposes a burden on access to abortion.." Justice Stephen Breyer wrote on behalf of the majority. When President Trump appointed Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the court, conservatives had a 5-4 edge with Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Samuel Alito, and Justice Clarence Thomas. Football coach Derrick Clark was a convicted drug dealer when he was hired two seasons ago for New Haven Endeavour Middle School in New Haven, Michigan. Now he’s in jail facing serious sex charges.  School Superintendent Todd Robinson talked with Jim Kiertzner, investigator for Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit and said he knew Clark had some criminal past, saying “Not to the extent that you’re sharing with me now.”  Robinson would not say what his understanding of it was. “I don’t want to make any more comment about it at this time.” Robinson also would not answer if he would still hire him if he knew what he knows today.State records show Clark was convicted of drug possession and running a drug house and was on probation from 2009 to 2014. For a fourth straight night, protests are taking place in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as demonstrators demand justice for Jacob Blake, a man shot in the back by police during a Sunday confrontation.The protests are taking place hours after a 17-year-old Illinois boy was arrested and charged with shooting three protesters in the city on Tuesday night. Two of those protesters died, the third was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.To the west, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has requested help from the National Guard following unrest in his city. The protests are related to a Wednesday shooting death that was rumored to have involved police officers. After video of the incident was shared on social media, rioting and looting took place at a local mall.However, the Minneapolis Police Department released footage Wednesday that they say showed the shooting was self-inflicted.The nationwide protests are also taking place hours after the Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court, citing frustration with continued police brutality. Several other pro sports teams, including the MLB's Milwaukee Brewers, also took part in the strike.Blake was shot at least seven times in the back by Officer Rusten Sheskey as he entered his car after officers were called over a "domestic dispute."
