BERLIN (AP) — German prosecutors say police investigating the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann in Portugal in 2007 are searching a garden plot in the northern city of Hannover in connection with their probe. Julia Meyer, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office in Braunschweig, confirmed local media reports Tuesday that police investigators had been at the site since Monday with an excavator in connection with the case but couldn't provide further details. McCann was 3 at the time of her 2007 disappearance from an apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal while on a vacation with her family.German authorities said last month they had identified a 43-year-old German citizen as a suspect in the case.The suspect was "in and around Praia da Luz" at the same time McCann went missing, officials said in the news release.The suspect was seen driving two vehicles during his time in Portugal: a VW campervan and a 1993 Jaguar XJR 6. I see homeless people weekly and I try help them the best that I can," Martin said.Martin said her son, who's about to turn 10, and her nieces and nephews went into the store to see if the bakery was giving out free cookies and to get samples from the deli.Martin stayed outside and talked to her sisters and the man to whom she gave the dog food.She said a Safeway employee came out of the store, looked directly at her and rushed back inside, which she thought was strange.As Martin prepared to leave, two police cars drove up and one stopped behind her so she couldn't back out of her parking place. They asked why she was there and if she had any warrants, Martin said. She told them that she'd never even had a parking ticket.Mountain View Police spokeswoman Katie Nelson said that a Safeway employee called the police and to report a theft in progress. (KGTV) - A pursuit that ended at a South Bay apartment complex Thursday led to the arrest of a suspect inside a home.Robert Perez, 26, was seen leaving the scene of a domestic violence incident at a Lemon Grove apartment complex at 10:30 a.m., San Diego County Sheriff's deputies said.Deputies tried to pull over Perez as he drove away but he refused to stop, said officials. Perez began driving more than 100 miles an hour on freeways including SR-94 and SR-54, according to deputies.Perez parked his car in a carport at 2920 Briarwood Road and ran to an apartment on Plaza Mercia in Bonita. Deputies said Perez initially kept the resident of the apartment from leaving, but the person eventually ran outside.Perez was taken into custody inside the apartment. No one was hurt.Deputies did not release details about the domestic violence incident. 875
