SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 40-year-old man was assaulted and nearly kidnapped during a violent home invasion overnight in South Park.The victim and his girlfriend were asleep in their home when three armed suspects forced their way into the home at about 2:30 a.m., according to San Diego Police. The group demanded the victim's car keys, but he refused to give them the keys. The group struggled with the victim and assaulted him, before taking several electronics and attempting to kidnap the man, police say.The victim continued to resist and was able to escape the group and call police. The suspects then fled the scene.Police described the suspects as three Hispanic males, all wearing dark clothing, gloves, and partially covering their head and faces. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A foot pursuit between police and a suspect ended in an officer-involved shooting in the Logan Heights neighborhood Monday.An officer was trying to contact a 30-year-old Hispanic male, later identified as Enrique Aguilar, at about 3:20 p.m. over what he believed to be a narcotics violation, according to San Diego Police Capt. Tom Underwood. Aguilar fled, prompting a foot pursuit in the area of 3400 National Avenue, police say.Police said during the foot pursuit, Aguilar revealed a handgun.VIDEO: Video captures officer-involved shooting in Logan HeightsPAST OIS INCIDENTS: DA releases body cam footage, reviews several officer-involved shootingsOfficers say they ordered Aguilar to drop his weapon. Police said at one point, Aguilar pointed the handgun at officers, prompting an exchange of gunfire.Aguilar was struck at least once. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.Neither officer, one a 24-year veteran and the other a 2-year veteran, was injured in the shooting. Underwood added there was another male suspect they were searching for connected to the initial narcotics violation.Both directions of the 3200-3500 blocks of National Ave. have been closed to traffic as officers investigate. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A family killed in a Logan Heights house fire in October was laid to rest Friday.Jose Antonio Romero Mayo, 44, Nicolasa Mayo-Cortes, 46, and daughter Iris, 21, all died from their injuries following the Oct. 13 fire.Funeral services were held at Saint Anthony of Padua in National City Friday morning.RELATED: Family's oldest son charged in Logan Heights house fire deathsTwo other surviving family members, Wendy and Angel, were out of the hospital and in attendance.After the church service, a funeral procession drove by the house the family once called home. Loved ones shared a moment in front of a memorial placed outside of the charred, boarded-up house on Clay Avenue.Friends of Mayo-Cortes described her as a hardworking mother who went through many hardships but was always resilient. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 37-year-old man was arrested and booked after trying to snatch a toddler from their parent's car outside of a Costco in Vista, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.The incident happened just before 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the store located at 1755 Hacienda Drive.Sheriff's Sgt. Nanette McMasters said a woman, her fiancée, and their two small children were backing out of a parking stall when the suspect opened the rear vehicle door. The suspect attempted to remove the 2-year-old child from the car.The child's parents got out of the car and confronted the suspect, identified as Adam Glavinic."The incident drew a crowd and a physical confrontation occurred between the father and Glavinic," said McMasters.An off-duty sheriff's employee and other witnesses intervened in the confrontation and held the suspect until two deputies from the Vista Sheriff's Station arrived on the scene.Glavinic was arrested for attempted kidnapping and being under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility, according to McMasters.It's unknown at this time if the toddler, the father, or the suspect suffered any injuries during the incident.The incident remains under investigation. 1265

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A family moving from Philadelphia to San Diego says they had their belongings stolen within the first 30 minutes of being here.The family says it all happened in the parking lot of a Target store in Mission Valley. The cargo carrier atop their car, stolen from the roof.The family says they think the suspects who stole the items may be professionals. Michael Kaminis says he thinks the thieves knew what they were doing when they unhooked the carrier without leaving a mark. “I was in shock, the kids were crying.”Kaminis says despite the setback, his family is staying positive. “You can’t let a thing like this deter a big life decision, they’re still on board, they love the idea of San Diego. You can’t let things like this shake your faith in humanity and people.” 798
