The Louisville Metro police department has fired one of the police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor. A termination letter for Officer Brett Hankison released by the city’s police department today said Hankinson violated procedures by showing “extreme indifference to the value of human life." The letter also said Hankinson violated the rule against using deadly force. Taylor, who was Black, was shot eight times by officers who burst into her Louisville home using a no-knock warrant during a March 13 narcotics investigation. The New York Times reported late Saturday night that Senator John McCain will lie in state at the Arizona Capitol building and then the U.S. Capitol before being buried at Annapolis, Md.McCain died on Saturday in Arizona after a 13-month battle with brain cancer.The Times cited Republican sources as McCain's family finalizes plans to honor the senator from Arizona. McCain will also reportedly have a full dress funeral at the Washington National Cathedral.Two of McCain's former political rivals, Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, will deliver eulogies, the Times reported, citing Republican sources. President Donald Trump is reportedly not invited to McCain's funeral, but Vice President Mike Pence will receive an invitation. McCain will be the 30th dignitary to have lain in state in the U.S. Capitol since 1852, and the first since Senator Daniel Inouye lain in state in 2012. The Pentagon is preparing to send about 5,000 additional active duty troops to support border authorities' efforts to stop Central American migrants bound for the US, according to a defense official and an official familiar with the current plan.The announcement comes days before midterm elections in which President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned of dangers related to immigration and of specific but unsubstantiated threats posed by the migrants, who are still weeks away from the US border.Trump tweeted Monday that the group of Central Americans includes "gang members and some very bad people."The tweet to the President's 55.5 million followers came just two days after a man with virulently anti-immigrant views, who referred to immigrant "invasions," killed 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue."Please go back," Trump tweeted Monday to the migrants, who are some 900 miles away from the border and moving at a pace of 20 to 30 miles a day. "You will not be admitted into the United States unless you go through the legal process. This is an invasion of our Country and our Military is waiting for you!"The migrants are seeking asylum, which can be applied for only once someone seeking protection from persecution or fleeing violence in their home country is inside another country or is at the border."Operation Faithful Patriot" is expected to start on November 5 and last until December 15, the defense official said. The Gulf Coast appears to have dodged a bullet after Marco — once a tropical storm — collapsed into a post-tropical cyclone as it neared the Louisiana coast. But the National Hurricane Center (NHC) warns that the region faces a more substantial threat in Hurricane Laura.Just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday, the NHC reported that Laura had officially strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of over 74 mph. As part of the agency's 11 p.m.. ET update, the storm is expected to reach the Louisiana or Texas coast by late Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. By the time it reaches the coast, the NHC forecasts that the storm could be a Major Category 3 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of 120 MPH.At 11 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Hurricane Laura had top winds of 90 MPH, and was located 405 miles southeast of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The storm is moving west-northwest at 17 MPH.The storm has already proven to be deadly.
