INDIANAPOLIS -- More than a dozen protesters were arrested Monday afternoon after they blocked a busy downtown Indianapolis street during rush hour. The group was demonstrating as part of the "Poor People's Campaign" and started at Monument Circle before making their way to the an area outside of the Statehouse. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were called to the scene after reports of about 50 people blocking the road. Responding officers tried to talk to the protesters and gave them multiple warnings that if they did not leave the street they would be arrested. Police say they spoke to the protesters individually and tried to get them to move, but after being left with no alternative they took five women and nine men into custody. All 14 were arrested for obstruction of traffic. The group claims they were protesting against poverty, racism and other important issues.  925

It's been one week since 13-year-old Jayme Closs went missing from her home in Wisconsin, and now her school will hold an event aimed at helping the community cope with her disappearance.The Barron Area School District will hold "A Gathering of Hope" Monday evening at Riverview Middle School, where CNN affiliate WCCO-TV says Jayme was a dancer and cross-country runner. The event will include a lighting ceremony and provide counseling resources for students and other community members impacted by Jayme's disappearance."A range of emotions or reactions to this crisis are completely normal and should be expected. In newly-released guidance from the CDC, the federal agency cautions front-line workers to avoid interacting with those who violently protest not wearing masks.This comes as many states now require masks to be worn in all public indoor locations, such as retailers and grocery stores. Despite state laws, many top retailers have already cautioned employees against enforcing mask rules.The CDC guidance encourages companies to provide training for employees on how to handle these situations.The guidance says that employees should not attempt to force anyone who appears upset or violent to follow COVID-19 policies.
