A Flint woman was accused of placing her infant children inside a suitcase and leaving them at the curb.On Wednesday, Flint Police responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Pierson Road to assist Child Protective Services.When officers were on scene, a 26-year-old woman placed items to the curb "as if it were trash" and fled from the residence at West Pierson Road on foot, according to a release from Flint police.Police say she was detained after a brief foot chase. Officers returned to the residence and found the woman's two sons, but two children were missing. After searching the area, officers located two 11-month-old twin girls inside a suitcase at the curbside. They were transported to the hospital where they were listed in good condition.The woman remains in custody. 804

A Cirque du Soleil performer who fell Saturday night during a performance in Tampa has died, a Tampa General Hospital spokeswoman said. The acrobat who died has been identified as Yann Arnaud, according to a statement released by Cirque de Soleil's Volta."It is with immense sadness that Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group reports that a tragic accident occurred last night, March 17, during a performance of its show VOLTA, in Tampa, Florida," the statement began. Arnaud, a longtime aerialist, was performing "the aerial straps number" when he fell onto the stage, according to the Cirque du Soleil statement. First responders moved in quickly to administer medical aid. Arnaud was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he later died of his injuries. "The entire Cirque du Soleil family is in shock and devastated by this tragedy. Yann had been with us for over 15 years and was loved by all who had the chance to know him. Over the coming days and weeks, our focus will be on supporting Yann's family and our employees, especially the VOLTA team, as we go through these difficult times together," said Daniel Lamarre, President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group.Cirque du Soleil officials are gathering more information the event, the statement said. "We are offering our full and transparent collaboration to the authorities as they look into the circumstances of this accident," the statement added.The last 2 shows of Volta scheduled for Sunday were canceled. A former Nazi SS guard known as "the bookkeeper of Auschwitz" has died before serving a four-year jail term, authorities in Germany said.Oskar Groening, 96, was sentenced for being an accessory to murder in 2015, but never went to jail due to a series of appeals for clemency on grounds of old age and ill-health.He died in a hospital on Friday, according to Spiegel Online. The Hannover public prosecutor's office said it had been informed of Groening's death by his lawyer.Groening was found guilty of being an accessory to the murder of 300,000 people at the Auschwitz death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II.He was accused of counting the cash found in the belongings of new arrivals at the camp and sending it to Nazi headquarters in Berlin.At least 1.1 million people were killed in the camps at Auschwitz, the vast majority of them Jewish victims of the Nazi genocide, but also Poles, gay people, disabled people and other persecuted minorities.About six million Jewish people died in Nazi concentration camps during the war.For many years after the war, Groening worked as an accountant in a factory and suppressed what he had witnessed and participated in at Auschwitz.But in the mid 1980s he finally came forward to say he had seen the mass killings in response to claims by Holocaust deniers.This admission opened him up to public attention and scrutiny -- and ultimately prosecution.During his trial, Groening admitted that he was "morally complicit" in the crimes but denied that he was legally guilty.Groening insisted in a 2005 interview with Der Spiegel that he had been no more than a "cog in the gears".His first plea for clemency was denied by German prosecutors a day after it was made public, but he never served the sentence due to a raft of further appeals. A Boynton Beach, Florida woman accused of shooting her husband five times over HOA complaints will not be charged with attempted murder.State prosecutors declined to file charges against Lisa Barreca Thursday morning. Police arrested Barreca last month, saying she shot her husband and caused wounds to his head, both his arms, his right leg and back.Barreca planned to use the stand your ground defense.A spokesperson for the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office said the agency did not complete their investigation within the 30-day mandatory filing period. The SAO is able to file charges in the future, if they choose to do so.The Boynton Beach Police Department completed their investigation into the case, according to Public Information Officer Stephanie Slater.Barreca was ordered to be released on her own recognizance following a Thursday morning court hearing and the case was closed in court records. Barreca, who lives on Aspen Leaf Drive, was talking about HOA complaints with her husband Eric Barreca in their kitchen when he told police that the situation started to escalate.  The police report said that Lisa Barreca then went into the garage, retrieved her gun and shot him. Lisa Barreca was hospitalized and then was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. She was later released on ,000 bond.That bond will be discharged since the case is closed, court records show.  1426
