SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Border Patrol agents arrested a man Thursday they say had more than 100 pounds of narcotics in his car.According to the agency, the arrest happened just before 11 a.m. on October 8 along Interstate 15 near Vista.Border Patrol says agents initiated a vehicle stop “on a suspicious 2015 Chevy Camaro” when a K-9 alerted authorities.After searching the car, agents found 68 bundles of cocaine and crystal meth hidden inside the vehicle’s quarter panels and cowling. The narcotics have an estimated street value of more than 8,000.The driver, who is a US citizen, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.Since October 1, Border Patrol says it has seized over 491 pounds of cocaine, 7,169 pounds of methamphetamine, 178 pounds of heroin, and 383 pounds of fentanyl. 798

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Crime Stoppers released photos Wednesday to find a man and woman suspected of two armed robberies in Otay Mesa and Pacific Beach. The first robbery happened the afternoon of Sunday, July 28 at Tepito Club, a clothing store at 2364 Roll Drive. Police said the pair selected merchandise and approached the clerk, then the woman pulled a gun and demanded cash. The couple took the money and drove off in a blue Toyota Corolla. One day later, police said the two suspects gathered items at the Chevron gas station at 1575 Garnet Ave., eventually demanding cash from the clerk. The man and woman walked away from the area with the money, police said. The suspects are both white, according to Crime Stoppers. The woman is 5’6”, thin, and was wearing a black tank top and grey leggings. The man has a medium build, and is about 30 years old with tattoos. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — As more San Diegans are working from home during the coronavirus outbreak, more pets are finding new families — but care extends past any quarantine orders.Helen Woodward Animal Center says the center has seen an uptick in adoptions, nearly doubling normal adoption rates at the center last weekend. Many of those new pet parents came from educational backgrounds."We met professors, teachers, and counselors who had all been asked to work remotely and suddenly had lots of hours in a quiet house," said Helen Woodward Animal Center Adoptions Services Manager Dora Dahlke. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As re-closures loom in San Diego County, anxiety is building.Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel said she and other colleagues noticed higher anxiety and depression among those who are isolating."Then there's the reality of, 'okay the cases are surging and things are starting to shut down again,' so there is that isolation anxiety," Dr. Carcel said, explaining we are pack animals and can feel in danger if alone for extended periods of time.She said on the flip side, some are feeling a sense of comfort in a new routine that's taking root, as we enter the fourth month of the pandemic.The possibility of all indoor activities getting shut down Monday threatens that new normal many have created.Dr. Carcel said there are still options to get together, "we can get creative with this. There's hiking outdoors, there's biking we can do. All of that within the context of social distancing." Another anxiety is the job market. While unemployment is down for the sixth straight week, SANDAG said 200,000 San Diegans are still out of work.Dr. Carcel acknowledges these times are hard but it is important to have hope. "We're just constantly thinking in absolutes, 'Oh it will never reopen. It will never get better,' that is a very bad way to think, we actually want to think about this being temporary because it will be."She impressed the importance of vaccines being developed at light speed and suggested those who are anxious about the re-closures should create a game plan."We talk about a cope ahead plan on specific things we can do in lieu of things we are currently enjoying if things shut down again so that we're not disappointed," Dr. Carcel said.She reminded us this is temporary, and we will make it through. 1755

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Crews battled a house fire in the Lake Murray area, Saturday night.The fire was reported just before 8:40 p.m. in the 8000 block of June Lake Drive, just off of Cowles Mountain Boulevard.Firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 8:42 p.m. to heavy smoke.Details on how the fire started or if anyone was injured were not immediately available. 375
